I don't know, I think the whole appeal of gta vice city wasn't the city itself so much as it was the cheesy 80's setting.

so I think if they did use vice city as a setting again it would just be for the silly parody landmarks and otherwise be no different than any other city they could set it in.

Yes yes yes yes yes yes yes yes yes yes yes yes yes. They should totally do it but for some reason I don't think they will. They seem to be intentionally avoiding using the setting for some reason. I currently have Vice City installed though I haven't touched it in a couple of weeks. It's my favorite GTA game and I'd love to see them return to that city.

Vice City wasn't about the city itself. It was about that era, the 80s. You can't have another Vice City and make it relevant without going back in time. I'd like to see a GTA game set during the prohibition era. I'm tired of this modern stuff.

I wouldn't be surprised to see Vice City again, though. After all, Liberty City, San Andreas and Vice City were the names of the three cities in the original GTA. That's why we keep seeing them over and over.

I'd rather see something other than the United States - I don't care where.

Bangkok, Sydney, Dubai, Rome, Paris, London, Glasgow, Leeds, Dublin, Moscow, Berlin, Tokyo, Auckland, Shanghai, Johannesburg, Cape Town, Jerusalem, Istanbul, Prague, Singapore, Seoul, Vancouver, Stockholm...

So many other non-American cities on this planet that could host the game. Each with a special story to tell and a different sort of criminal underworld.

Prohibition Era - Chicago sounds like a good idea.
Or Las Vegas. I don't think they've done Las Vegas yet.

Spoilers: GTA is America. Rockstar (fairly recently actually) said there will never be another GTA set outside the US. America is just too vital to the game's narrative for that to happen.

Personally, I think if Rockstar were to expand to a new city, I think Washington DC would be the best fit. It is culturally unique with plenty of easily identifiable landmarks. Not to mention that it is the heart of American government and would be an easy backdrop for contemporary social commentary. Wouldn't be too far-fetched since the city and neighboring areas have some of the highest crime rates in the country (and that's not even counting the politicians!). I think Washington DC is the only other American city that is unique enough to cater to a global audience.
Barring a return to Vice City, which I think is the most plausible choice, DC is an interesting selection. I mean, we've post-apocalyptic DC, why not present day?

I want them to finally make another GTA London game. Why does it always have to be American cities? Especially NY and LA.

I honestly think a revisit Las Venturas
this would only work if they kept the heist theme from GTA V. some really big casino heists would be incredible is they had similar level design to GTA V.
Oh my God... YES! That thought never occurred to me. If Rockstar wants to continue the heist mechanic into future titles, Las Venturas would be absolutely perfect. If executed well, Casino heists would be absolutely brilliant!
10 bucks says that that will be either a DLC or an add-on in the vein of the ones from GTA 4.

OT: I'm not entirely sure what they'd do with vice city TBH. I'm sure they'd think of something, but I'm honestly at a loss as to what they'd actually do. Personally, I'd like one set in fake-chicago/the midwest. Mostly because I want there to be a bunch of trains. I like trains. As for the theme: It'd be based on farmers being crazy/bored people.

Either that or A: Another Bully game (we need another one of those, even if it is more of the same) or B: A GTA MMO. It could be several things: A planetside 2 like gang war simulater, a payday heist-them-up on a city-wide scale and with a hell of a lot of people, and plenty of other things.

I understand why, it's the whole perversion of the American Dream and taking the satire of it to its most extreme.

Doesn't mean other cities don't deserve the GTA treatment... because the theme is starting to run a bit stale. Only so many time periods and demographics to satire/parody in the United States.

I guess that could be the reason - you can make fun of English speaking nations without much blowback but to try and make satire of the middle east would just be a powderkeg waiting to explode.

I'm kind of tired of seeing re-dos, and honestly GTA5's whole locale was way better without that restriction of being between 10 story tall buildings the whole time because of an over-populated New York-esque city. It worked alright for GTA4 but 5 definitely proved there's a lot more you can do with an open environment. So I'd like to keep an open locale, maybe midwest or or South coast, I think Midwest could work pretty well actually, you can get a pretty diverse range of people and sights in that kind of area.

A three city epic between Houston, New Orleans, and Vice City set during the 1960's with only two playable characters who are also a couple; a white woman raised by rednecks with a mean streak and need for cash and a Black male Korean War veteran gripping with his place in society (who takes it out with large amounts of violence and theft).

The greatest game ever? Yes.

I still dream of flying between multiple locations. Head to the airport, buy a ticket and get to Vice City, Liberty City or San Andreas. I don't expect to manually fly over the entire country, just a loading screen would be fine and then show your character walking out the front of the airport.

Probably not a realistic dream but I would love that.
It's probably the most realistic way they could do it.

rockstar have stated that this is essentially there "end game" they basically want to make an interactive world and add new cities.

id personally like to see something a bit different such as a European city, america has been done too much now. GTA england would be kinda cool. they could have the main city in london then have a load of countryside (similar to what they did in GTA V) to represent the less populated areas. Paris could be kinda cool too
yeah it would be cool to set it in britain, but also kinda crap seeing as guns are not so easy to come by, police dont exactly walk around with machine guns (or even pistols for that matter)
Thats the only downside really but im sure with a bit of artistic license (which GTA is famous for) the police could be armed. They could make 1 star the normal unarmed cops (pursuit only) and then as the stars increment an armed response team show up (which would be realistic for the UK)

I just think british gangster/heist scenarios are some of the best. Italian job, snatch and lock stock to name but a few. As i said above id love to see a heist of the crown jewels

Edit: a british soundtrack would be amazing too

Yeah, they should do a game in Vice City, and set in the current age.

The main character used to be an agent in C.H.I.A but the agency turned on him and he lost everything. Now he's stuck in Vice City with his friends doing whatever work they can find as he tries to get his old job back.

If you remember there once was a game/expansion called GTA: London 1969, not only are the 60's an underused era in gaming but so is London. The Getaway series was a ton of fun and i'd love to see Rockstar's depiction of it.
Only downside could be a lack of open space.

The thing about Liberty City and Los Santos is that they're not period-pieces. They're modern cities set in modern (for the times they came out) times. Vice City, on the other hand, was a gimmick piece modeled heavily after the movie Scar Face. There's a LOT of parallels between the movie and the game, and the city itself is one of the biggest parallels there is. It was a throw-back to the good ol' 1980's in which if you got up to 3 stars they'd actually dispatch the Miami Vice detectives in their Lamborghini. Simply taking Vice City and bringing it to the modern era would kinda take away the entire point, and setting it back in the 80's again would be "been there, done that."

I'd like to see a GTA game that takes place in Canada, specifically the Greater Toronto area.

They could call it GTA: GTA
