Assuming you enjoyed GTA IV, it's worth it.Korten12 said:Well the GTA: Episodes in liberty city is going for $10, and was wondering if its any good.
I know most will say its a bad port so don't get it. I will ignore those posts.
Just tell me if the game is actually good or not, if it is or isn't woth getting.
No see Episodes of liberty city has all three, so I don't know how the original is. Also can you create your own character at some point?Netrigan said:Assuming you enjoyed GTA IV, it's worth it.Korten12 said:Well the GTA: Episodes in liberty city is going for $10, and was wondering if its any good.

Both cut to the chase a hell of a lot faster than GTA IV did. The Ballad Of Gay Tony is my favorite of all the GTA IV stories. The main story and The Lost & The Damned both have a self-doubting hero who kills hundreds, but endlessly whines about. While in Gay Tony, you're a guy who is willing to do anything to escape a dead-end life... he's not a psychopath, but if living the good life requires killing a couple of hundred bad guys standing in his way, then he doesn't have a problem with it.
Anyway, two good sized campaigns that eliminate a lot of the annoyances of the original... i.e. no fat cousin calling you up for man-dates.
Already got SR2.khaimera said:I do not care for that game at all. The multiplayer was not fun, but mainly because I don't like how the game plays. The cars are not fun to drive. The story takes itself too seriously, at the sacrifice of fun. Its a mundane game. You are better off buying Saints Row 2.
This today I loaded the game, waited about for a text message and a phone call giving me a marker across the city, got a taxi to save time, get in car with two charachters (trying to avoid any spoilers), follow another car across city, kill a load of people working up to and through a building, get on a motorbike to chase a boat, drive up ramp and jump off bike to grab on to helicopter, hammer x over and over to climb up helicopter, chase boat shooting it with miniguns, message comes up to fly lower, I accidentally land in the water... swim to land so I can reload mission [at the point where I failed the mission continues with you following boat until you get to land, shoot a load of people including FINALLY the antagonist.]Netrigan said:-No checkpoint system in the main game... this can be really frustrating when a mission requires you to drive half-way across town to pick up a vehicle, then drive back to actually start the mission. If you fail, prepare to drive halfway across town to pick up the required vehicle, before driving back to start the mission.
Yes, you can pick between a male and female protagonist or a zombie. You can change your charachters clothes and maybe able to actually change their appearance (never really paid much attention to customisation).Korten12 said:any character customization in multi?Netrigan said:snip
You forgot this Con:Netrigan said:Very little customization in the main game. You can buy clothes, but I rarely bothered unless it was required for a mission.
So, since you've not played GTA IV before, I'll list the basic pros and cons of it.
Pros:
-Liberty City is amazing and there's quite a lot to do it. Beyond the missions, there's bowling, pool, an arcade game, air hockey, yadda yadda yadda.
-The stories are all quite involving. Unlike previous GTA games, it plays more like a crime tragedy, with the hero being pulled back into his old life to settle old scores.
-lots of great TV and radio to listen to.
Cons:
-"Nico, let's go down to the titty bard." The friendship/dating system in the main game is annoying as hell. In order to get the perks of any particular person (such as curb-side weapon deliveries), you have to take them out until they like you... then you have to keep doing it so they don't stop liking you. The add-ons feature the same mechanic, but it's completely optional.
-Lots of people don't like the car handling (raises hand). Once you get the hang of them, you can pull off a couple of neat tricks, but you have to train yourself not to touch the handbreak, which usually just put you into an uncontrolled spin.
-The main game probably takes about six hours to really get going. Up until then, you're basically in tutorial mode, sometimes learning skills that you'll never have to use (such as fist fighting or throwing objects). Once it gets going, it's quite good.
-No checkpoint system in the main game... this can be really frustrating when a mission requires you to drive half-way across town to pick up a vehicle, then drive back to actually start the mission. If you fail, prepare to drive halfway across town to pick up the required vehicle, before driving back to start the mission.
I personally enjoy Saints Row a lot more than GTA IV, because it's such over-the-top fun; but there's no denying that GTA IV is a really good game.
i was about to say it sounds like you want something like saints row 2Korten12 said:Already got SR2.khaimera said:I do not care for that game at all.
