I just beat GTA4 and I'm still craving some GTA action XD. Ive got $20 to spend, so I wanted to know weather I should get Grand Theft Auto San Andreas or The Ballad of Gay Tony. Ive never played either of them, all opinions are welcomed! :D.

San Andreas will last you much longer than TBoGT.

Then again, how much of GTA 4's realism did you like?
[sub]Because there isn't much of it in San Andreas.[/sub]

It's different playing styles, if you have never tried any of the previous GTAs then you owe it to yourself to get SA.

San Andreas is, in many, many, MANY ways, more fun than GTA4. I've never played Gay Tony, but seriously - it doesn't matter. If you don't have SA, get SA.

Get San Andreas. The graphics and action may not be up to date, but it is one of the best GTA games in my opinon and it will last you a lot longer then The Ballad of Gay Tony.

Yeah I was thinking San Andreas, I hated the realism in GTA4 but I had heard a lot of good things about TBoGT. And the only thing I did in any other GTA games was hold up in a pizza shop with a mini-gun in Vice City...

Graphical polishing aside, GTA IV was a step backwards for the series if anything. I would thoroughly recommend SA to see what GTA was like before it started to take itself too seriously. Also, it will take you months to do and see everything in it.

[EDIT] too many "anything"s

San Andreas has more of the GTA flavor that I used to love. GTA III, VC, SA, and even the "Stories" series are some of my favorite games. GTAIV didn't seem to have near as much humor as the rest. I haven't played TBoGT, but wouldn't count on it being a whole lot different from GTAIV.

The Bofus vote - get GTASA if you want to try something different from GTAIV.

After intense deliberation, Saints Row 2. Awesome and hilarious gameplay? Check. Good gunplay? Check. Decent graphics? Check. Can you go bowling with your cousin? I enjoy myself some random pedestrian ninepin, but they rarely agree. Perhaps because the game is played by smashing into a bunch of civilians with a high speed car and seeing how far they fly.

I vote for Saints Row 2.

Not a GTA game, but it is in the GTA style and is perhaps the single most well written and fun Sandbox style games I have ever played. Highly highly highly recommended for the Ronin storyline if nothing else.

Although when I did the jump from GTAIV to Saints Row 2, I just couldn't get into Saints row. It was only after almost a year of going back to SR2 that I cracked open the shell and found the beautiful gem of a game underneath the more rough exterior.

I vote Saints Row or the sequel, because nothing beats how insane that game is.

Shooting literal shit out of a cesspool truck at people? Yes please.

Saints Row 2, or San Andreas if your hearts set on a GTA, but in my opinion, Saints Row 2 is better.

Yeah, if you like GTAIV, expecially its driving, get TBoGT. If not, get an immensely better game, which is GTA:SA. It's got more side quests (for want of a better term) than you can shake a stick at. And you can also play pool in it!

The topic title just makes me unable to care. How about instead of just spewing out acronyms that sound like either people belching or vomiting, you give some clue as to what you're talking about for the people who can't compose a sentence entirely of nonsensical acronyms?
Yeah, I had no idea what TBoGT stood for, that's why I had to look so I could see if I could add anything.
