So heres the story, My brother put this object down in his basement like 2-3 years ago and when he went down to check on it the sight was not pretty. The item had liquefied into this mess you see above.
Your goal is to figure out what this item was before this state. I MIGHT let you guys know eventually if you can't get it, but I wanna see your guesses first.

-its an object most every household has at least one of, probably more.
