Whatever, just wash your hands.
So it looks like everyone's assumption that GW2 was getting an expansion has been confirmed, along with a new heavy armor profession called the Reverent. Existing classes will also be getting specilizations that will change how the class plays, details are still lacking but Rangers will be able to become Druids and Necromancers will get the ability to use great swords. It also appears that engineers will gain the ability to use heavy hammers and have some way to have a bunch of little flying turrets.

There will also be a huge new area to explore, an additional wvw area, a new spvp game mode and more.

So! The first expansion pack for Guild Wars 2 was just announced at Pax (and streamed over Twitch [http://en-gb.twitch.tv/guildwars2]).

We have a host of features announced...

* New area, the 'Heart of Maguuma', described as being far more vertical than the areas we have;

* "Masteries", including hang-gliding and lore-mastery, which will allow us to speak the languages of the new races of the jungle;

* Profession specialisations, which will let us develop existing professions-- Rangers can become druids, for example, and take up the staff weapon;

* New WvW Borderlands map, apparently more diverse than the ones we have;

* New SPvP game mode, "Stronghold", which can also be used by battling Guild Teams;

* New Legendary weapons (W00T!) and a new method of acquiring precursors (DOUBLE W00T!!)

* New profession: the REVENANT, who can call upon past powers, including King Jalis Ironhammer and Mallyx the Unyielding (of GW1 fame);

* Guild Halls.

...I'm rather stoked. Masteries and specialisations sound incredible in particular, and I'm also excited about a new method of precursor acquisition... that's something the players have wanted for yonks.

What say you?

((NB: New sub-forum [https://forum-en.guildwars2.com/forum/game/hot] also opened on the GW2 forum site)).

Motherf@cker! I was making a thread on it and once I had finish I refresh the page to see if anyone beat me but in saying so I had ALOT of typed out. Well I'm not going to put it to waste and post part of it on here. If you wan a more detail information on the expansion, read on here!

So I just finish watching the Pax Guild Wars 2 presentation from Twitch and this what had been said about the upcoming expansion and what we seen from the trailer-

FLYING MOUNT! Well ok it's not a mount more like NEW FLYING ABILITY!!

Also it look like the dinosaur are back which make sence since there were alot of dino in the jungle back in Eye of the Noth.

Also speaking of dino, the new creature and the combat seen remind me alot of Monster Hunters!

Still level 80
Your top gear will still be top gear tommorrow) so no level caps.

New challanges and real character progression.
The pact ship scatter can be found on top of the jungles and the jungle is comprise of three loctions- core, root, canapy and other secrets

New currency -mastery pointss.(That what I think it is as it sound similar to the Karma system in the game)
It's an account pve mastery points. It allow you to purchase new abilities and it's account bound to all characeters so no grind. E.g. climb to the top of the jungle and with mastery point, you can hang glide and better ability let you fly in the gust. Also another exampe of mastery is learning the lore like the languagues found in the jungles.

New collecting and crafting. (Full mastery rewards will reward you with a precusor which to those unfamiliar in the game. It's pretty much the most grindful and expansive weapons to craft and spend. Also there will be new legendary and new legendary precusor.

Specialisation
Each professions learn something new (could be consider a 2nd profession back in Guild Wars) e.g. ranger can become druid and can used staff (new skills) and new mechanics to learn when becoming a 2nd profession. Necro can get to used greatsword in this new specialization. While it has not been confirm but from what I saw in the trailer, Engineer may learn to used the hammer and maybe it was an Mesmer that can also used a shield ability (if it was an Nercomancer than it means it can used sword aswell).

New profession confirm Revenant
It's a Heavy class profession and it can control the power of the mist (afterlife in the game). Using the mist means it can use the great legend of the past like the Great Dwarf back in Guild Wars: Eye of the North.

World vs world new maps The example given were in the earth kingdommap , defend the points and it will rise above the ground defending itself while in the fire kingdom control the points will activate the lavas, allowing your server to travel faster.

Pvp new mode stronghold
It is akin to a guild wars 1 PVP mode. The objectivie is to get supply to raise troops, storm the gate and kill the lord and you can hire heroes to assist you.

Guild vs guild!

Guild halls!!!! Much more than a homeplace for the Guildies as you can organise events within it!

Ok Anet has more or less beaten me since I was on the fence if it is an actuall expansion and now it is official an expasion I want to board the hype train (cam I still board on it?). Shut up and take my money! While I am dissapointed in no new races but the new profession kind of make up for it (shoat me up) especially when I got a spare character slot lying around. I probablt make an Asura Revenant now especially since I regret not making an Asura Guardian in favour of an Charr Guardian instead (too bulky when it come to jumping puzzles and there are alot of jumping involed). I guess this make up for it!

Oh one last thing, there is no official date yet for the expansion.
Also guildies of The Escapist, we meed a serious talked especially to the Guild Leader Foe Blade. I am sadden for the Escapist Guild as I do want us to have a active Guild Hall dammint otherwise I will seek out a new guild to joined (which is fine as you can be in more than one guilds )!

Nice to see the devs back down on the constant refrain of "Living Story is enough! No expansions, ever!" that they were spouting for so long. I can't say this is enough to get me back into the game personally but it does actually contain a lot of what players had been asking for for a long time.

They are long overdue for an expansion and they really need to heavily advertise this to bring in new blood.
I think guild halls in an mmorpg are one of the worst ideas ever ( even though people ask for them) due to them also creating ghost towns at former gathering areas if guilds are in their guild halls instead of public areas of the games where they can interact with new players and recruit more members. I see guild halls as counterproductive with guilds interacting with new players and other guilds. It make a game seem much less populated and more of a single player experience when you have less people at public areas and more in private guild halls.

I really enjoyed the the different pvp modes from GW1 and they should bring them all eventually into gw2, so I am glad to see they are bringing back some of the old favorites.

I want to hear more on the wvw borderlands map and the changing wvw mechanics. ALL I do in game is pvp and wvw and probably will not go to the new PVE areas unless it is to access content that will affect my pvp/ gvg or wvw experience. I do hope they do not require me to do any PVE to enjoy my PVP because I really have no desire to go to PVE areas of the game at all.

I think the Guild leader boards are also long overdue, and hope to see more options for gvg style play introduced in pvp. How can we have " guild wars" without actual guild wars? LOL

The PVE additions I could really care less about tbh.

Oddly enough I never started my personal story on any character or have done any living story, and I have had this game since it was released.( I took part in the surveys they used to create this game from GW1) LOL

You know that guy you are supposed to talk to after the tutorial with the green star above his head.. I just never bothered and went straight into pvp and wvw. I really have no interest in the story at all tbh, I do however wish they would permanently change the landscape of the wvw maps.. The current landscape of the home Borderlands maps are stupid as hell and not in any way the way people would build for real. You have to go right to go left, go north to go south, cliffs added for no purpose.. It is just a bad design, and takes away from game play rather than adds to it. Many people refuse to play on the home BL maps at all due to their design, if a map design is running off players rather than attracting them, it is a bad design. Hopefully they are not too stupid to realize this and make the new BL more like EBG instead of the BL.

I'm very excited about this, especially the additions to endgame content. So glad they're moving beyond story updates, because I for one would rather read a book than my video game. I end up skipping most of the storyline because I am a sad depraved little person, and then I don't follow when my guildies discuss it.
