Speaking as a guy who's playing GW2 wooohoooo :)

Game is far from perfect and there are a lot of improvements to be made and bugs to be fixed, but I'm glad it's doing well. Still I'll wait and see how many people will actually continue playing once the hype dies down. Chats are currently full of people who're complaining about lack of end-game content (when they're not having WoW vs GW2 debate). But hey, there's no subscription so anyone can occasionally pop in and see what's new.

I didn't expect much and it's pretty fun so far. I don't think it'll keep my attention for very long but definitely longer than any other game I bought recently.

Was totally worth the money. I'm bored of the game now though. One level 80 and no reason to keep playing since I got no intrest in PvP and the instances were awful.
Still, got around 200 hours of gameplay out of it!

Fantastic game and I'm glad it's getting so much success. Does so many things right and isn't just another damn WoW clone. Though it needs a bit of balance changes... especially for the story missions. Being a squishy elementalist, I feel I'm dieing more than I should. Or perhaps I just suck. Either way, warrior's are damn-near invincible while I practically get 1-shotted.

Balance will come in time, though. Still enjoying the game.

No subscription fee for the win.
No real money auction house for the win!
Well, there is, but it's all cosmetic stuff and you can convert money you make in-game into gems (the stuff you buy with real money to buy other stuff).

This game is great.

Just a minor correction about this article; it was ArenaNet, not NCSoft, that decided to halt digital sales temporarily.

More OT:

Glad Anet are doing so well with their game, I may not agree with every move they made (I hate 8v8 sPvP, so zergy!) but they definitely deserve all the success they can get; they're a brilliant bunch of people and other developers should be taking notes on how they manage community interaction.

I'm thinking about getting Guild Wars 2 myself, but I'll wait until the New Year to give them time to release more bug fixes and perhaps an update or two.

I'm not paying to be a beta tester.
