So Guild Wars is on Steam for cheapies. I've never played it myself, but seeing as it is so cheap I may be interested in picking it up. But, I want to see what fellow gamers think of it. Is it a solid game? Fun? Lasts long? Would you recommend it?

i was always intigued by it, MMORRG's usually scare me away with their Subscriptions, Does it have that? or has it gone the way of free to play?

I tired it. Didn't particularly like it. I played it for about three four months and found it to be a very boring Single player game. No one wanted to party ever simply because they don't have to share gear with henchmen. So instead of being a free MMO it feels like a very boring single player dungeon crawler.

Its popular though, So i might just be the angry face in the crowd.

No subs just buy the game and that is only cost you have to make. You can buy extra storage for items and character slots and a few other things.

OT: I love it and if you look at my groups you'll quickly find out why. I think it is a brilliant game but you really need to find a guild in it of people who will help you out. If are just gonna do it and not try to make friends or break into the larger community you won't enjoy it. There are quite a few community run events that pop up every now then. These range from brilliant to alright.

The thing about the game that makes it special compared to other MMOs it is not very gear driven. PvP has some gear requirements but those aren't hard with PvP characters. The game is all about the build you have which consists of your 8 skills and attributes which can be changed to whatever you please in outposts. It actually does have quite a good story considering MMOs and plenty of endgame dungeons and other things to do as well.

I think it's a decent game, though I did find it a bit boring after playing for an few months. But for a MMO which doesn't require monthly fees, it's pretty good.

I have played it for a while, it's a good game. It is an MMO with no subsription fee and it doesn't have you leveling up useless stuff like fishing and pants-craft, because it is combat oriented.

All in all I like it and do recomend it, esspecially if you find it pretty cheap.

Forgive me but gear IS shared with henchmen. They take a portion of the drops, except they don't actually GET dropped. Kinda awkward to explain but the more human players around the more loot will drop.

OT: It's a really fun game and the campaigns all have pretty good storylines(personally I don't think much of Factions' story but loads of people swear by it ^_^).
As long as you find yourself a good friendly guild you're sorted as far as getting a party's concerned. I'd recommend it, especially because it's cheap ;)

/shameless plug for GW

guild wars is a great game, i think its great that it is so cheap on steam because the reason it started to get boring is because i couldn't find any people to play with and i kept having to just use henchmen

Eh, I was always called a noob for wanting to party with people because of drops. That's why I said that. I know what you mean tho.
