ok so I just got guild wars and Ive got some questions and I figure that at least some of you still play it or did play it. I decided to go ranger as my main class, what is a good class for a 2nd one for it? Im probably not gonna make a ranger/necro since Im thinking about doing a necro char at some point later on

do pets have different stats or are they all pretty much the same but just look different and if they are different then what are some good ones to get in prophecy

oh, and do you get the hom points for things in the first 3 games or only the eye of the north? I got the trilogy so Ive got the first 3, main reason I got it was that guildwars 2 looks awesome and I figured I should get some points and see how much I liked the first game

Monk is a pretty good second class for ranger, and other classes. If you are thinking about making a necromancer at some point then don't select that as a secondary as you will duplicate the skill unlocks. I remember that a pretty cool build for a ranger/monk is one that uses a multiple target ranger arrow skill for attacking with a monk smiting skill that changes damage type to smiting which bypasses damage resistance. Good times were had in PvP with that one.

Can't remember if different pets have different stats. Not the best part of being a ranger if I remember rightly, although it is worth playing with.

I think that previews said you needed Eye of the North for stuff in GW2 but I only have the other 2 expansions.

A good secondary is Monk for mending touch or w.e it's called. Necro is also good for toucher builds. Keep in ming that about 2 weeks into the game you can swap secondaries at any time for free, so the choice doesn't really matter.

All pets have the same stats except bears which have a glitch which makes them junk. The only difference is look, and the type of damage they do. Ex piercing or slashing physical. That said since both categories are physical the difference is almost a non issue.

For the last question, i'm not sure. I think rewards were supposed to be based off of your personal hall of fame which is a gwen thing.

Actually pets got buffed a bit a while back. I really like playing enraging lunge with it or using a ranger paragon mix with a pet. also ritualist is a cool second profession for spiking builds (nightmare weapon) or just good old splinter weapon + barrage. Monk for mending touch which is pretty good. Also you need eye of the north to get the GW2 goodies as it has the hall of monuments where all the stuff is deposited.

I typically use a condition ranger. I went monk secondary for one skill only (mending touch). I never really bothered with a pet, I saved the skill slot and I basically spread burning, poison, cripple and bleeding amongst enemies.
Unless you plan on sinking some massive time into GW, you won't really benefit all that much from the rewards in GW2.

I recommend reading this [http://guildwars.wikia.com/wiki/Pets]. The evolution thing is pretty important if you want a specific pet. As for secondary class, I'd recommend Monk for PvE so you can bring Rebirth, long gone are the days where you could make a Ranger/Elementalist with Meteor Shower. I sunk over 1000 hours into my Ranger on that game, and can still reference the precise moments that made him fun as fuck to play, especially in group PvE/PvP.

I know you have already probably been posted this, but this site is like pure gold... or platinum in concern to the game.

http://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/Main_Page

Everything you can want to know about on Guild Wars is there. As for a second class, I would definitely stress that in PvE and mostly even PvP, there is no "bad class". It really depends on what you want your charactor to do. There are bad builds, but no bad class combos. When in doubt, go with monk, its extremely versatile.
Compared to other games out there the classes are pretty well balanced. Even the commonly underrated ritualist has his place. I played a Paragon a lot in Nightfall (strong support class) and I occasionally witnessed ritualists that were practically soloing the entire other teams we faced using ritualist spells and skills almost exclusively. As a paragon I had to evaluate when and where to support the team and sometimes the most crucial places and people to coninuously throw support were around the ritualists. Often after watching a ritualist basically tank for 10-15 matches, I would step outside of the matches and see people talking about how no one should ever make a ritualist for PvP. (Ritualists aren't extremely versatile, but they definitely are not underpowered.)

The moral of that story is that people will often downplay classes but guild wars, unlike many MMOs is fairly balanced across the board. I can't name another good MMO out there with such great balance across the board. It mostly comes down to how you play the game and how you play the class and your build. You have to play your build, in short.

I learned a lot using my paragon as a supportive role once I learned how to follow the right people. But the main point of me posting this is to assure you there is no "bad choices" for a second class in the game, especially as a ranger. Ranger is a pretty versatile class in a lot of ways. Pick one that you feel compliments your style of play best.

ranger + ritualist is pretty much 1 of the highest dmg dealers in the game if played right
