I had heard about this a week or so back, when Kojim left. But now I'm hit with it again. I'll just go sit in my corner and cry now.

But it's my favourite series. It's my favourite genre. How could they do this to me?! WHY CAN'T WE HAVE NICE THINGS?!

It was gonna be so good. P.T was so good.

I kinda went through all the heart break and disappointment a few weeks ago when the news hit that Kojima told Konami to go fuck themselves and that he was leaving. It was his brain child so of course it's dead.

Who wants to bet this is also Konami killing Silent Hill as well?

Contra, Castlevania, Bomber Man, Silent Hill...my god Konami what happened?

Well, cheers to them going the way of THQ in like a year or two eh?

I was really hoping Silent Hills would be the step in the right direction for the series after the turds that were Shatter Memories, Downpour, and Origins.

[sub][sub]Yeah, I went there.[/sub][/sub]

I guess we can't have nice things. :/

I had a bad feeling that the game would be canned when Kojima left, and now I'm just both irritated and sad.

I will say as a fan, I can't be too surprised since Konami doesn't know what the hell they're doing anymore.

Well, now they can disengage from gaming and focus on their true calling. Making fitness machines.

What exactly was the drama with Kojima and Konami? I always thought he owned Konami or something.

We don't KNOW. However, there have been a few clues here and there.

Basically, ever since MGS2, Kojima wanted to move away from Metal Gear Sold. MGS2 has a speech where Snake says that people should choose what they want to leave behind, and what to leave alone.

The advert for MGS4 was Kojima making a massive dig at his fans for forcing him to continue, a dig at Konami for forcing him to make Metal Gear, a dig at Snake for existing and a massive fit at everyone, hidden behind not subtle context.

He even had Snake shoot himself (then a twist if you bother to stay until after credits) to basically say "I am done! Let me go!".

He has stopped giving a fuck and decided to make a game that will push the boundaries of acceptable in the hopes it will be enough; it will be his Magnum Opus and it finishes Metal Gear in every single way so he cannot possibly continue.

There was a power struggle in Konami as Kojima basically had the run of things and wanted to move onto other things, and when he demanded it, they, like a baby, fired him, dismantled his entire studio which he had been building for over a decade, took away the FOX engine he paid for with his own money, and said once you finish this, we're going to kick you out. They even removed his name from all the Metal Gear games, retroactively, in a fit of fuck you.

Since a massive consumer backlash, they have at least put his name back on, with even other branches of Konami such as Konami US and Austrailia and UK retweeting the pro-Kojima tweets, implying a massive divide between the Japanese branch and the international branches, whose loyalty seemed very strongly with Kojima, not the company.

After loosing so much face due to their rogue employee, Konami has now started burning down anything that reminds them of Kojima like a jealous ex dumped by their boyfriend after they lost weight, because they wouldn't listen to his requests to do something that made him happy.

EDIT: It was also outright stated that Kojima and Del Toro were friends and he decided to join Kojima on Silent Hills as a buddy project. Once Kojima left, everyone knew Del Toro (who has a lot of issues with Japanese companies such as Sony) would leave quickly afterwards; he doesn't work for money, he just does what he wants. Probably why Kojima liked him so much.

Yeah, I wasn't too suprised. But I had such high hopes for it because the demo was a MASSIVE step in the right direction. I'm so sad that it's not going to happen. At least we will always have P.T! It's so gloriously terrifying. What I would love is if Konami built on that, maybe. Made it a bit longer, changed some things up. It could be great!

EDIT: just saw they are taking it off. Those bastards!

That's just what I was thinking, I don't know what it is but Del Toro can't seem to get a game out the door. I'm saying that with zero spite, I would have loved to play a game by Del Toro but I guess some things happen along the way.
I was about to become a Silent Hill fan for this. Whenever an entry in a series looks interesting, I start from the top, I was about to get into Silent Hill.
Well, at least I don't have to go thorugh all of them now, still kind of bummed.

Maybe, if we're lucky they'll sell the rights to silent hill to another company.

Or, hey, just have another studio hire the team and make the game. It's not like it needs to be called silent hill. With the amount of attention that the press has given to this game, lacking the right name won't matter.

Blame Konami, they're the ones who basically fired him and are disassembling his subsidiary and his projects

Blame Kagemaza Kozuki: he's the one who's sabotaging his very own company's video gaming branch because he wants to turn Konami into a slot-machines manufacturer.

implying a massive divide between the Japanese branch and the international branches, whose loyalty seemed very strongly with Kojima, not the company.

Let's say, you work for a company going through a massive feud at the top between the elderly owner who, in what may very well be a fit of senile dementia decided he wanted to completely restructure his company in order to become the japanese Sheldon Adelson and a senior employee, universally known for his exceptional craftsmanship who openly opposes the boss fantasies of casino grandeur: given the choice, which side would you chose?
