To an extent, gaming is, but even now it's still regarded as a thoroughly 'nerdy' activity, and that's with the ridiculous amount of people who do it accelerating its drive into the public limelight - with the media fighting it at every turn, of course.

I think it will be a lot longer (if ever) before anime reaches this same state, and even then, that state is hardly ideal.

For the most part i don't care about the media on gaming give it another 10 years media is gonna be controlled by people who grew up with games by than. I mean I'm 17 and literally everyone i know has a gaming console. That says something about gaming finally being accepted. Granted its mostly Call of Duty, Madden, Halo and etc... that are the most popular but its still people playing games right.[/quote]

True, but the majority of sed halo/cod playing generation have the sadly stereotyped understanding of anime, so that doesn't help at all.

As you may see, I represent pessimism with this viewpoint.

I like Glee (not that bad, the acting is good, some of the music is tolerable) and listen to a few of My Chemical Romance's songs.

Such as Jump. On the day they covered that song, all of Van Halen simultaneously shot themselves.

Its not a guilty pleasure, but it is embarrassing. When playing Pursuit Force, I got so pissed off with my psp that I punched it, hard enough to temporarily destroy the screen and eject the umd.

Ouran High School Host Club (anime, not the manga)

Ah, I loved that. My ex-potential girlfriend recommended it to me. Then I went around, going, "See? It's not all about the fanservice! A heterosexual male like myself can't enjoy fanservice from this, see?" Then people started taking jabs at my sexuality. Very funny manga though.

I grew up on Ranma 1/2 and Goldenboy VHS tapes in the early 90's and loved the "rom-com/pervert" shows, and this show reminded me of those days. It pokes fun at a lot of Japanese anime/cultural archetypes and celebrates its own absurdity. I'm a married, heterosexual male and I don't think anything is wrong with appreciating something so damn goofy.

Short answer: yes.

If you're interested in complex plots, incredibly well developed characters and an intelligence that keeps you working for your answers, read them.

Although, Claymore is worth a look too =D

Bear with the books for a bit, everything changes at the end, and A Song Of Ice And Fire kicks it into high gear, and really begins.

In regard to Claymore, beware the gecko ending, but otherwise, enjoy =)

Tbh, the Twilight saga, a very secret and guilty pleasure. I find it entertaining, plus I like the actual actors who play the characters so it's like watching a friend in a play or something, you think about their performance and how it's all coming together a fair bit, I don't know it's hard to explain. Might stem from me having stopped acting a few years back and missing all those experiences that went with it, and being able to relate to the casts portrayal of things because they're of a similar age group.
