Guitar Hero 3 problem

Problem: For some reason, when i play on HARD, i can't 'hammer on' or 'tap on' at the very start of the song. It baffles my mind, because i just played the tutorial over and over again on 'advanced' mode and the beginning bit of 'Take this life' is exactly possible for one to hammer on.

What am i doing wrong?

Theres only one, small hammer on in that sequence. You can play it by using your ring finger to hit blue after you've hit yellow, and then lifting it off to yellow again. But I think you might believe the whole beginning can be hammered on, when it can't.
