Ive been Playing Guitar Hero III lately and i get to the hard difficulty in the career mode and all the way down to the last set of songs and they are fucking hard!!
It's not like after a couple of tries u get the hang of it like it gives you a challenge. It is impossible to play these songs like Raining Blood on the hard difficulty for instance. You start it and it not to bad but then you get into it and you go WAT THE FUCK! after failing it about 30 times!! i go to the next one and its just the same stuff pretty much. Fail after Fail after Fail and i give up on the dam thing and move onto the expert campaign and get through half of the songs with no problems and I think that's stupid!

Anyway after that little Rant I'd like to hear anyone Else's opinion on these songs or from anyone who has actually finished those songs on hard or even expert for that matter!! :)

Bleh.. If you play enough you'll eventually get through them. Back when I used to play a fair bit of GHIII I completed all of expert except for raining blood, I have no interest in finishing it, it's not fun and I don't like the song.

The note charts for the Guitar Hero games have been going downhill since the first one. I wouldn't feel bad if I were you because some of them make flat out no sense whatsoever.

Gonna have to agree with you, those songs ruined the game for me. They're just unreasonably difficult to play and not much fun (with the exception of Cliffs of Dover, that's feckin' ace). And this is coming from a guy who's five-starred all of them on Expert! Raining Blood in particular, it still irritates me to this day - I only spent so long trying to five-star it for the acheivement, and now I'll probably never go back to it again.

Rock Band has a much better difficulty curve, better songs, and is just more fun to play - once you've finished with GH3, have a play of either Rock Band and you'll never go back :)

GH3 was when the series inevitable fall into gimmick happened.

Something rythm game companies tend to do is try to make something harder without talking to the people who play at those levels, and thus they do something wrong and it becomes less fun more "this is a bastard for the sake of it".

DDR hit this level recently. After the success of two of their competitors (one of which they sued into the ground) who both provided harder but more entertaining stepcharts for their songs, Konami tried to do the same and failed miserably.

Why? Because their competition had members of the development team that could actually play at the highest level rather than just theorise it.

The result was the inevitable fall into gimmick. They made stepcharts that were hard not because they were technically challenging but simply because they had really stupid awkward steps. Then they made sweeping changes to the score system, added new arrow types and generally fucked it up.

GH:WT2 will basically be that.

Just train with easier songs until you get completely bored and then you will pass harder songs.
Easy!

Raining Blood is the only one that's a real bastard to play.

It doesn't help that it's an awful droning bore as well.

Your right "Cliffs of Dover" is an awesome song no doubt and is the only one ive completed in the set. I havent played Rock Band or the new guitar hero but im looking at getting them just cause as you said the difficulty curve is alot better as it should be, not like GH3 but im gonna keep trying to Get'R'Done :)

The only hard part of Raining Blood is the part where you have those fast hammered triplets with a few lose accents here and there. Just practice that one on very slow to get the hang of it. I did it, and just flew through the rest of the song. At first, I couldn't even beat it. Then I practiced that bit and 4-starred it on hard.

Practice makes perfect, but even then, those songs are mighty hard sometimes...
I'm a Rock Band person myself, can't play those songs by the Fratellis to save myself...

The last set is an absolute *****. The fast solo part on One is nasty just because it's after tons of those fast triplets, and it's a LONG ASS SONG, so if you get to the solo and fail, you just wasted about 5-6 minutes. Raining Blood is just stupid...I played through the career on Medium and was flabbergasted by some of the stupid rhythms. (still 5-starred it)

Cliffs of Dover isn't bad. And personally, I don't understand why people have a problem with Number of the Beast. Then I remember that I listened to that song a LOT for about 6 years before the game even came out, so I can sing the whole thing, including guitar solos. :)

with raining blood try and have star power for that stupid bit where it goes nuts (almost certainly the bit you're losing on) and just concentrate on three out of the four notes it wants you to play and you're on for a winner. I'd like more guitar only games. I've no interest in singing 15 awful songs and maybe 1 average one (or i'd buy singstar) and i couldn't give a fuck about a lego drum kit.

If guitar hero had kept that in mind it might still be a fun game for me. But hey, cheap gimmicky rubbish for the less game-minded masses prevails right? let's buy a wii(!)

I'm so annoyed at this game. I have't played it for months but the only thing in the career I just could not do was the Devil on Expert mode. It's so, so hard but I've given up to be honest, haha.

personally i dont have a problem with it
only problem i have in the game is the intro to TTFAF on expert and Devil went down to georgia on expert

The only reason I was able to 5-star Raining Blood is because I was able to play it on the actual guitar before I attempted it on GH3. Still took about ten, maybe fifteen or so tries.

I just found it really disappointing that the transition from easy to medium was fairly simple and then you go from medium to hard and I pretty much dropped the guitar in disbelief.
So yes, the difficultly curve sucks.

Oh and not really relating to this thread but if you have Guitar Hero World tour..play 'On the Road Again' on the drums, on medium...and be prepared to have a laugh :p
