I'm actually very excited for this. Complainers need to realize that many Guitar Hero fans did NOT get to experience Guitar Hero 1 or even 2, and a GREAT number didn't bother with the Rocks the 80's pack, which had a good tracklist but excessive price. In addition, many current players don't have the ability to play these older versions. Let's not forget that PS3 owners only have GH3 and WT available, and of course the PS2 releases don't work.
Yes, the tracklist is going to make or break this release, but think of how many good former tracks could work well with the GH:WT formula. Also, these will all be Master tracks, which is a good change as well. In GH2, I really like "Mother" from Danzig, but the vocal person they used was HORRIBLE and quickly took me out of the immersion of being a rock star. Hopefully they'll be smart and pick mainly from the GH1 and Rocks the 80's tracklist. Here's a few I'd like:
Heat of the Moment
I Ran
Holy Diver
Ain't Nothin but a good time
Godzilla
Iron Man(!)
Institutionalized
Mother
Surrender
If you still have all these games and songs available, then save your money and rock out to them, without drums and vocals and online play and with the Harmonix band performing them. If you're like me and don't have the games and also are willing to wait until the game is discounted (like GH: Aerosmith was about 2 months after release) then this is a very welcome addition. Besides, to see my Chinese wife trying to sing TTFTF is worth the price of admission for me.
