Guitar Hero II Set List Official

At long last Red Octane has decided to stop beating around the bush and spill their entire set list for Guitar Hero II.

The bad news is that what I hoped was a misprint on the previously "leaked" set list from G-Hole, wasn't, and is actually "Search and Destroy" by Iggy Pop and the Stooges. Don't get me wrong, I have nothing against Mr. Pop, per se, it's just that "Seek and Destroy" by Metallica is a far, far greater song, and perfectly suited, I think, for Guitar Herofication.

The good news is that the "Girlfriend" listed on G-Hole's stolen list is, in fact, Matthew Sweet's version. It will probably sound familiar to you once you hear it, but if not, don't sweat it. Just prepare yourself for a rough ride on the solo.

The even better news is that one of the previously-unannounced track's is "Killing in the Name of" by Rage Against the Machine. That's right, and now you do what they told ya.

November can't come soon enough.

I honestly have no idea what 70% of the tracks up there are. That shouldn't be taken as a negative point however, since many of the tracks from the original game were completely unknown to me, and half the fun was getting to know the songs and gaining an appreciation for them. Heck, songs that didn't stroke my fancy initially ('More than a Feeling' anyone?) ended up as personal favs, since I could actually understand their structure better and thus learned to appreciate them in a whole new light.

I look forward to a repeat performance from #2!

Yay! More Megadeth! And Rush! And Heart! And STP! And, and, and... I know many people have been complaining, but I think this setlist is fantastic.

I'm curious: What do you guys see as the biggest win on the new set list?

Personally, I have to go with Sweet Child O' Mine - who has not air guitared that?? Although, the idea of shouting "Skynyrd! Freebird! WOOOOO!" every single time it's played at a party is most appealing.

In terms of guitar awesomeness, gotta go with War Pigs. That song's a classic for a reason, and it ain't Ozzy's singing (though it helps).

As far as stuff just to rock out to? There's not much missing there. I'm most excited about STP, Cheap Trick, Suicidal Tendencies and the Foo Fighters. Damn, Monkey Wrench is going to be fun.

I'm going to have to go with Misirlou [http://youtube.com/watch?v=lKlZcc54KVc], though Free Bird [http://youtube.com/watch?v=bxj8hLQjpBk] is really close.

There's a dozen others I'm really looking forward to though.

I have to go with Sweet Child, but Killing in the Name is virtually tied with it. I only hope they don't censor the lyrics...
