I don't know, maybe it's only through my social circle, but as of recently, I found myself selling my old guitar hero games. I don't play or enjoy them anymore. I used to love them as did my friends, but now it seems like we all don't like guitar hero anymore. And with DJ Hero coming out, are we a strange minority who have fallen out of the "fan" circle, or have more people done this?

The problem the novelty was wareing off,and Activison`s decision to release 20billion GH games a year has speeded up the decline ,also the setlists (with the notable exception of GHM in my book) have gradually got worse and worse.

losING? It's lost. Not only is Rock Band smoother and more intuitive, it also has a solid base playlist, good online support, and isn't run through the ringer, having only four games including unplugged and the upcoming Beatles game compared to the eight(at least) Guitar Hero games, also including the DS game and the upcoming(cringe) Van Halen.

I mean rock band and guitar hero as a genre of instrumental simulation. Is it losing its novelty?

One thing about gitaur hero, is i hate it when they focus one of the games on one band, like gitaur hero metallica, not everyone is going to like them. They should keep doing all songs.

I agree.
GH is trying to keep in the race, but I think I know who will come out victorious.

Just look at Guitar Hero 5's playlist. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/GH5

It's so terrible.

Guitar Hero already lost its appeal at part 3. The text during the loading screens and the stages just proved that whoever was in charge had no idea what rock music is about.

Rock Band however, is still going strong. Every once in a while I grow tired of it, but then a new interesting DLC pack is released. Like last time when they released the Iron Maiden pack.

It`s a good way of providing a genre centric experience to a game,i love GH:M because it strips away all the filler i usually go through in the unlocking process of these games making the game a more enjoyable experience, helps with online too

Worse GH so far without a shadow of a doubt
Theres a couple good tracks there.. But the stock core line up shoudl be way solid for any of these games. Nothign but classics. Lil gems here and there are what DLC is for.

Even if they announce Stairway, I'm still probably not going to get it.
What a fucking waste of money

I still play my Rock Band and Guitar Hero games all the time. But I am a nerd with no social life, so I'm probably the exception to the rule that GH is becoming unpopular...

Just let Guitar Hero die! Rock Band is better in every way because it was made by the people who created Guitar Hero!

I sold GH4 To buy Rockband 2 after a friend got it... since it had much better tracks imo.
But, yeah GH needs to stop overdoing it and just put the effort into making one good game a year (if that often) not a few mediocre ones.
