Given we've already got Aerosmith for GH and The Beatles game on their way out; which other band deserves their own game?

A trippy Pink Floyd Oddysey based on the Wall?
Alien Ant Farm's MoonWalker?
Status Quo Guitar Hero? (Only have to use three chords even on Hard?)

Engage!

What I'd like to see is a Guitar Hero game where you can download your own song list and play the songs you want through a career, that would be the best use of XBOX Live and the PSN, but sadly I doubt this would happen since people are suckered in by these kinds of games and will pay anything to get the next installment just to play their favourite song. It's a nice strategy and I don't think RedOctance will change that.

But on topic, I'd like to see a Heavy Metal version of Guitar Hero. Including bands like Opeth, DragonForce (*shudder* but it would make for good gameplay, Dimmu Borgir and other such bands. That would be a nice change of pace.

I think GH should come out with a song uploader and an auto-fretter. If only the tech existed... (which it might. Haven't been in the tech loop recently.) Back on topic, i would like to see a heavy metal version as well with like Children of Bodom and Bury your Dead.

I think a Radiohead or Muse version could both be varied and challenging enough.

I'd also say Dragonforce deserved one but they might as well call that "Guitar Hero: Hammer Square Pegs Through Round Holes Edition".

I'd never buy a single-band-guitar-hero-version, i like variety.

As such, i personally would rather like an "All sorts of Metal Guitar Hero" and a "Progressive Rock Guitar Hero"

Yer, but if it was tailored to fans of certain music, WAY less people would buy it, meaning less money for the Guitar Hero boyz

a led zeppelin one would be pretty awesome but then I guess you'd have to play stairway which they so often told you never to do int he first and second games. a 'rock the 60's' and 'rock the 70' version would be great throw in some Hendrix would be a must.

I wanna see versions that focus on compilations of video game and movie music. All the best iconic video game themes and movie/TV themes to play!

I know when GH4 comes out, I'm gonna use the composer to make the MacGyver theme. YEAH!

I don't think they should do too much of those band-specific Guitar Hero/Rock Band games. Part of what makes Guitar Hero great is its diverse set of music that guarantees something for almost anyone. If they tailor a game to one band, then they're just sticking to one thing and it won't be something that everyone will enjoy. I would buy Guitar Hero: Areosmith or Guitar Hero: Beatles but then i wouldn't really enjoy it (plus the stupid PS2 guitar contoller wouldn't connect to the PS3 even with the attachment needed)

But i do think that "Guitar Hero: Indie Bands" would be a great idea.

You're right. But look at it this way - they also have guaranteed sales from fans of that band. An Aerosmith fan will buy the game. A rabid fan will buy the console FOR the game. I bought all the GH games just for Trogdor and the Mario theme, and a few others, so many people will pay for the Aerosmith game just for a few favourite tracks.

Then there's people like me who have to own every game in the series - it's a compulsive thing. I enjoyed playing Jak 3, and absolutely had to get the others, even Jak X.

Although getting a mortgage is a powerful demotivator to buy games, so I think I'd still wind up only getting GH: Aerosmith and GH: [insert crappy Eurovision failure here] when they're cheap.

EDIT: 100 POSTS GET!

So...If there's only a few more GH games to be made...what do the others do?

Cell-Shaded Pink Floyd escaping from the Tyranny of Britain?

Which reminds me...does anyone here remember playing Frankie Goes To Hollywood's game? That was rather good for an 8 bit.

One for the Brits, Guitar hero Chav edition.
But seriously they should have done a metallica guitar hero rather than aerosmith. The day metallica do a bad song is the day I divide by zero.
You haven't heard the St. Anger album I take it?

I'd also love a heavy metal edition of Guitar Hero. Not just the metal bands that everyone knows though - I'd love a variety of different genres, like death/black/folk/prog/thrash/power/doom/speed/gothic metal, and everything in between.

I could go on forever, ones that stand out for me though:

Pantera's vulgar display of power.

John 5's "Through the Fire and Flames is NOTHING compared to this" including a level designed to play it with your teeth.

Rob Zombie's "Game of a Thousand Songs"

Def Lepard's "You only need 1 drumstick"

Fairyland's "Epic Power Metal Romp"

I've got so much more but I think it's good to stop this now.
