"Those who trade liberty for security have neither." ~ John Adams

Gun control is not about guns... it's about control. The first amendment is in place so we can discuss the amendments, legislation, and our politicians. The Second Amendment is in place in case the politicians ignore the amendments.

Spread the word.

Well, you can't control loonies, so you'd have to control guns. I live in a country where guns are banned. It's pretty swell.

PS: That said, it would suck if that asshole Geert Wilders rose to power here and started locking up Muslims just because they're Muslims and we wouldn't have any guns to rise against him. Then again, I'd be surprised if that asshole would become prime minister.

...and the discussion is where? We had a thread on gun control quite recently that actually had room for discussion. I will find it and post a link...

EDIT: Damn the escapist search function is...full of character.

I'm all for more gun control laws, personally. I'm not saying that guns are dangerous in and of themselves, and I'll concede that in the hands of a rational, properly trained individual, they can save lives. That doesn't mean that every Tom, Dick and Harry should be able to waltz on down to Nuns'n'Ammo and buy a handgun with no conditions other than cash up front and a seven day waiting period.

Clearly, the solution is to replace all guns that shoot bullets with guns that shoot silly string.

banning does nothing, people can still get guns, guns are the only means to kill someone, they're just the most efficant

Sigh, there are other places in the world than The US.

You'd probably have to be a veteran gunsmith, an Olympic shooter or a hunter in a club with few recommendations to get a gun license here. Thanks to all the school shootings and the government's response to them.

Or just buy one from the blackmarket and have it become untracable.

Also, I can't really think of any constructive uses for guns.

Or order the parts from different places and build it yourself. Or something similar. I was only referring to the gun-related laws here and the difficulty of acquiring a permit for one legally, but I know what you meant.

Shows the limits of your imagination and creativity. Sad, really. For example, these guys used guns as an integral part of this artistic expression of humanity's fear of nature. I call it, "Mountain o' Bison Skulls."

Make bullets cost $100,000 each so that if someone kills another premeditated you know that there was probably a reason for it and there will be no stray bullets fired

And that's why I feel gun control laws don't work.

Am I a bad person for finding that hilarious?
