Silly girls. Admittedly lots of my friends have noted they're a nightmare to live with because they get all nutty about random stuff but I wouldn't like to comment on them in a similar generalising manner. However they are strange beings... Leave them together long enough and they synchronise.

I don't care about these individual subjects. Any statement of "All of X is Y," or "All of X is better than Y." is inherently false.

OT: i kind of find some truth to this statement, as it seems like all dude have some relationship related defect in their DNA. Me included, i probably couldn't tell you how many times my gf has wanted to hurt me. Though im not doing it on purpose like another girl comes around or or work too much or minecraft just got an update.... ANYWAY, the same could be same for women tho, and how many of them have frequent irrational thoughts that border insanity. So its a true tradeoff.

Surely some other escapists have run into girls like this. The ones who will make statements like "I wish we lived in a world where all guys werent complete fuckfaces". Even if they aren't necessarily (stereotypically) feminist, this just totally drives me insane. I don't want to say it's sexist, because I almost think they don't mean literally "all guys" when it's said, but it certainly comes out that way. Like if I said "I wish all women would stop being such dumb bitches", I'd probably be assaulted for it.

How much does this annoy others, if it does?

that's bull.
in my experience, it seems the girls who are complaining that ALL guys are assholes, are assholes themselves.. yet somehow they fail to see it and therefore cannot understand why guys are "treating them like crap".
it's both sad and irritating.. i'm on your side here guys.

This. My youngest sister dated a guy, cheated on him with multiple guys, then said he was an asshole for breaking up with her. Then, when he dated her friend, who also cheated on him, she proceeded to remark that "at least she finally knows what an asshole he is". WTF? YOU BOTH CHEATED ON HIM!!!

So in short, gender wars are stupid, both sides act stupid when romance gets involved.

I'd say that:

a) if that's really the way they genuinely feel all the time, then you should pity them for whatever has happened to them to make them think this way. Because it's possible that they have actually managed, in their life, to only ever be involved with guys who are assholes.

b) otherwise, it's probably temporary vehemence and hyperbole brought about by having one or more of the men in their lives be an asshole (for whatever reason they see as being asshole-y), and you can take it with the same equanimity that you take people saying things like 'Augh! Bus drivers are so full of [insert expletive of choice here]' because one driver was snippy with them. It's common to generalise when you're angry. Don't take it personally.

My only problem is double standards. I don't take issue with someone who has been hurt who hasn't yet worked through their emotions. But to insinuate that a gender can be better or worse is pretty ludicrous.

The above are collective words of wisdom I think deserved to be quoted.

Women love the idea of a guy being a bit of an alpha, a bit of a rebel, a tough guy... To everyone but THEM. It makes them feel special when this guy is nice to them, makes them feel that they've tapped into the sensitive side of a guy, and its reserved for them alone.

Of course when it all turns out that the guy was just being nicer then he really is in order to get a girlfriend/the girl realises she is deluded, what you get is a chick, rather then interpreting that instance as a failing on her part, she flips it around and in a young mind assumes that SHE couldn't have been barking up the wrong tree, that could've happened to anyone... Ergo, All Men Are Assholes.

He never said anything was wrong, never said he wanted to break up, that he had met someone else, that I had done anything to make him think twice about me...he just stopped talking to me. Never called, never emailed, nothing.

So I was extremely hurt. I thought that I had met a nice guy that I could possibly get serious with (our relationship was only a month or two old)...so my super sweet boyfriend...turned out to be an asshole.

Sound to me like he was a coward, to be more specific.

OP: people will blame the other sex as much as they can. They are something they can't understand nor control, and at the same time it's something they need. I don't think they can, or should be taken seriously in any case.

Generally speaking I just ignore that kind of crap.

Although there was this one girl at college who was like that and she pissed me off. Not so much the comments like what you said, but the fact she'd say it every time a single guy (usually the same one) pissed her off and then would forget about it the next day.

If she genuinely believed all guys were assholes then I'd have learned to ignore it completely, but it was the inconsistency that drove me mad.
