Isn't orange box basically the same price as TF2 anyway? Buy that and sell your copies of portal and HL2?

They DO sell it in most game stores in the UK. The GAME near me isn't the biggest I've ever seen but I always see lots of copies of it. So what if you have the entire contents of the Orange Box sans TF2? Orange Box is cheap as chips; it's barely any more expensive than stand-alone TF2.

I think the main feedback from this thread is: ACTUALLY FUCKING LOOK for it in shops. Don't just say it isn't there.
Right, so you think that I made this thread withouth actually looking?

Oh god! I live in England! I just looked out my window and there's been an apocalypse, a gaming apocalypse! All the game stores are gone, it's horrible, I don't think I can go on.
Hey F*** you, Its not my problem that I cant find a single copy in London
London....the biggest city in England, where everything in the world is available.

Does Steam accept PayPal? If so send cash to PayPal and pay that way.

Otherwise you might want to talk to your bank to see if they provide pre-paid credit cards to under-18s. Most don't but you might get lucky and find one.

If you don't believe me, just go on game.co.uk and HMV.co.uk, neither have The orange box or TF2 available, she just doesn't trust the internet(reffering to amazon, ebay and play.com)

Ok, new plan: Your mate sets up a new steam account, then you give him the money, he buys it and then gives you the password

You could try anyway, ask the people at the tills, the website obviously can't cover ever single GAME shops stock at all times.

Don't play the whole "I'M FROM ENGLAND!" excuse, it rarely works.

And did you try requesting the game from the store? It normally works ya know.

I asked my mum if she could let me use her card to buy it(because its at a low price right now) and she said 'maybe'. She implied that she doesnt trust steam even though I showed her a LOT of security policies that they have but still, no.

If anyone can help me out, please find some facts/statistics from major companies to help me persuade her.

According to British law it is illegal for you to play this game.
I won't directly help criminals, but I heard asking a friend's elder brother or cousin helps.

There, done. Go in store and order it.

Not only that, I believe you using language like f*** at your age may be why your mum hasn't bought it for you.

Just scream and stamp your feet until she buys you it.

If that doesn't work. Yell.

Buy it retail.
Thats the thing, I live in England, so I cant find a retail copy of it.
BTW I already have portal, Half-life 2, ep 1, ep 2, so thers no real point for me to buy the orange box, and I cant find it here anyway.
I live in england too and I have definatly seen copies of TF2. Generally you have to go to the larger stores to see it though.
I live in England too but I haven't seen copies of Team Fortress 2 on retail on its own (i.e. without the rest of the Orange Box), so they might have taken it off retail. If I were you, I'd go on a peak time when that little graph thing is showing how many people are on Steam at that time (it's usually about 2.5 million - 3 million) and show your Mum that 2.5 million people can't be wrong!

I have a problem, I really want to get TF2 on steam, but alas, I am 14 so I don't own a credit card. Your Mom is wise. I understand you want to play the game, but understand that services like STEAM are at the forefront of the whole "digital distribution" thing, and your Mom is probably like a lot of people who don't want to pay real money without getting an actual product in return. STEAM goes out of business, or decides to shut down, and your left with nothing.

Now, I admit I've bought a lot of stuff digitally nowadays, especially with the sales, but I did so knowing it's a substantial risk. I can understand why your mother doesn't want to purchuse games digitally, especially if money is tight.

Besides which, consider that it's the end of October, Christmas is coming. up. All of the rambling above aside, you sound like a kid. Think about it, your parents are probably saving their money to get you stuff for Christmas, and the things you mention that you want now are probably going on their list of things to get you. I mean sure, you want the game now, but well... that's how it always is when your young (heck I'm an Adult and do that too at times wven when I know better... lol).
