Hacked!

So today I turned on my Xbox 360 and couldn't log into my gamertag. I asked one of my friends if he had seen me online at all, and he said I was online earlier today, which I wasn't. Feeling suspicious, I checked my credit card history. What do I find? Two payments to Microsoft. One for 50$, the other for 75$. Needless to say, I gave Xbox support a ring after recovering my password via email password reset. Some of my account information had apparently been changed... The most apparent being that my security question was now in Mandarin Chinese, which I found rather humorous. The hacker had apparently purchased 10,000 Microsoft points and used these points to purchase Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood, Halo Reach, and Trials HD.

After a long talk with Bill from Microsoft, my account has now been locked temporarily, my 125$ reimbursed, and the hacker in question is now under investigation. Interesting start to my day.

Had my Gmail account accessed from China, but nothing untoward happened because of it. Bloody Chinese hackers, making me all worried and shit :/

Never been hacked myself. Though it's rare anyone actually gets "hacked". Usually they just leave information in the wrong places, or don't understand how to work security systems online.(Not to say this is what happened to you OP)

My dad's website is occasionally hacked. He gets people from all over the world, but the funniest one originated from the Chinese government.

my WoW account was hacked once lost 2000gold and was found naked in stormwind

Ive had my steam account accessed by someone weird before, steam was pretty quick to give me a hand changing my stuff but over all yeah, tahts the only area steam needs work in, the customer support is pretty crap

YUP! I've had my Blizzard account hacked twice,I believe. I only cared because it had my Starcraft 2 on it,and that cost me $60,but I fixed it easily both times it happened.

When i was younger i downloaded some mmorpg cheat from a public ftp, the next day i found my character naked at the bottom of the lake. I learned not to trust the internet so i have never been hacked again after that.

Credit Card info is on the account so it knows what card to charge for the monthly subscription fee.

Never happened to me personally, but a friend of mine had her Steam account hacked once. Never managed to get it back, either, their customer support isn't the best it seems.

Really? My Steam and Xbox accounts got hacked after my computer was bricked by a damn virus, and after a couple emails I was back on Steam like nothing had ever happened. Now Microsoft's support... not so much.

EDIT: Well, it wasn't really like nothing ever happened, because whatever asshat took my Steam account was apparently a fan of Counter Strike and got me a few achievements.

My WoW account was *bruteforced, the two guilds I belonged in's banks emptied, all my stuff sold, and when I logged on(after having to change my password), my 5 characters were naked and in the middle of nowhere.

*Someone got my e-mail and guessed my password (Which was 9 digits, numbers, letters, caps, and lowercase. Now its about 20 digits, though I guess with the Authenticator that isn't needed anymore)

Needless to say, I immediately checked my credit card history: Nothing suspect
Account History via battle.net: Nothing Suspect
and I changed my password

Than e-mailed Blizzard, and bought an Authenticator.

Got all my stuff back, my guilds got their stuff back, plus I got the 2500ish gold that the hacker still had in the AH (since it was still listed when I got it back)

Spoiler: List of junk I got back

- The gear I was wearing
- The gear I had in my bank
- The gear the hacker bought with tokens (Most of which I vendored afterwards)
- My gold about 3000g
- The gold I had traded to a friend of mine (He gave me a large amount when he "quit", and I gave it back) 5000g exactly
- The gold from the auctions the hacker put up, 2500g
- The tokens the hacker spent
- Enough reagents/mats/gems to cover ALL MY CRAFTING COSTS FOR THE REST OF THE EXPANSION (My guilds stuff was returned to me AND my guild, apparently)

Hell, I even told Blizz down to the HOUR I got hacked(or rather when the hacker changed my password).

My friend also got his account banned, until both him and I emailed Blizz saying that he had nothing to do with the hack.

There's been a couple of times where my steam account got hijacked, but i always go it back and never really worried cause never saved my billing info when I did purchase something.

I've never been hacked, and thank god for that... just the idea of something like that happening puts me into panic mode and almost makes me wanna retire out of the whole... digital age, so to speak. xD It really makes me anxious to think that nothing of mine is ever safe enough from hackers...

Me too. There was one day a few months back when a lot of Gmail users were accessed from China, but nothing came of it; conspiracy theories buzzed.

I had my Steam login hacked twice, but got it back pretty quickly both times and nothing came of it.

My Steam account was hacked once. My friends account was hacked and I was sent a bogus link. I forgot that his account was hacked, but I still put my info in. Luckily I managed to get my account back before the hacker could do anything questionable with it.

Thankfully no, if someone hacked something of mine I just might loose my shit.

I know a friend of mine got his WoW account hacked and I think he was a little upset. His best armor was taken and his character was found naked in a cave, I think that's where he found it. He eventually found out who did it and got all his WoW buddies to go after him and that lasted days, I actually felt kinda bad for the poor bastard.

I haven't been hacked on anything, although on xbox I've been told that someone's going to hack me many a time because I kicked their ass on cod.
