My XBL was hacked for a few hours. I couldn't log on but it showed( through my other gamer tag) that it was online. Through a rare spot of luck, we talked to the guy who hacked the account and he gave it back to us. He was a surprisingly nice guy and told us how he got the account; apparently someone on the friends list managed to extract some information.

But I got it back before any damage was done and used a much more secure password. As for the guy in question who sold out the account, my brother was feeling merciful and let the deal go. I would have acted differently, but it's a shame that the guy lived in London.

My deactivated WoW account was hacked back in September. I got that sorted out within an hour, though, so no harm done, no money lost.

Actually, wait. Yes. Harm done. It interrupted Minecraft! >=(

My WoW account got hacked just as cata came out. Some how a malware keylogger snuck in and nabbed it. Lost all my equipment but I got it sorted out and restored the next day. Was pretty satisfied with the customer service.

The hacker only seemed to go for one server, I have lots of toons on many servers... He could've gotten a couple thousand from my little gnome priest that I was leveling up but it was untouched XD

I was hacked twice. Once, somebody (I think it might've been one of my friends, since they were posing as me, with information I don't have online) hacked my hotmail and steam accounts, but I got them back. The other time before that, a non-English speaking pedophile hacked my hotmail, but hadn't changed the password. At first I was angry, but it became really funny when my friend got a message from my account that was in a foreign language, followed by some messages written in garbled English asking if he was a "little boy".

Only had a messenger account hijacked once. Was being idiotic and clicked a link I didn't think was suspicious.

Now I point my digital representation of a howitzer at every link until it stops looking suspicious.

Actually, it DID happen once. The little moron messed with the wrong people. At Paypal, internet security is serious business. The very instant someone from the WRONG PART OF THE GLOBE tried to access my account, they knew to lock it down and fast. So...the money he tried to send to an online game company didn't take and the money he dumbly tried to send to his own Paypal account - WHICH LEAVES A RECORD OF THE RECIPIENT! - never left the station either.

Additionally, I made contact with the people at the online gaming place and suggested revoking the guy's account after providing them with the information - which they did - and suggested to Microsoft to suspend the email account (because it was Hotmail). On top of that, I received an extra layer of security (free of charge) to my account which you would essentially have to be ME to break at this stage.

Had my Gmail account accessed from China, but nothing untoward happened because of it. Bloody Chinese hackers, making me all worried and shit :/
how do you figure out where its been accessed?
Cos Google's a pretty cool guy. Let me know of suspicious activity, gave me an IP and its rough geographic location. I mean, it could just be a chinese proxy but eh.
