Good thing no one would ever try to hack the Escapist into submission. What with the 350,000,000 volt electric shock you send into the hacker's computer thus frying him and the three closes accomplices/collateral damage

Its either that or you just send Ninjas to kill them. Because we all know that's the best measure of defense. Ninjas.
Cyborg Ninjas provide the best of both defenses. A 350,000,000 volt shock while being sliced to pieces and poisoned.
good idea. im implementing that.

Hacker, cracker, flying trombone, whatever you call this, the guy(s) who did this was an ass.
While I personally find the trombone sentiment distasteful, I have to agree with you completely.

Let's agree to disagree and call him an oboe.

Of all the sites to destroy... banking sites, government sites, big business sites... they go for a flight sim site that probably hasn't ever done anything to anyone except try and help flight sim enthusiests. What's next? Someone gonna hack and destroy my grandma's myspace page?

The flight sim community isn't very large but it is very dedicated. Enthusiasts of the genre are a unique bird; they're gamers by definition but probably the most "non-gamer" gamer, generally speaking, you're ever likely to run into. If you asked most of them, they'd probably scoff at any suggestion that what they're doing is playing games. They're engaging in virtual flight.

Which is why this attack is so despicable. A small, unassuming community of specialist enthusiasts has been victimized by someone, probably, as pointed out by others, a script-kiddie idiot who went after a target he knew would be easy pickings. Yes, Avsim should've had a better backup system in place. That doesn't change the fact that this was a pointless and malicious attack by a true blue jerk. I sincerely hope they track down whoever did this and prosecute him to the fullest extent possible.

(Admittedly, as a former flight sim fan myself, I may take this a little more seriously than most.)
