I'd say I want the game to come out just so you people will stop freaking talking about it, but then you'll just pick up things speculating about Half Life 4, because you just can't let sleeping dogs lie.
Let Sleeping Dogs Lie is my Black Sabbath cover band.

Actually, how has nobody taken that as a band name yet?

Anyway.

What's the point of this thread? Most people aren't even anticipating Half-Life 3 anymore, they're just like "Eh. I'll get it when it comes out, until then, whatever." because Valve has been teasing about it for far too long now. Has it even had an official announcement that it's definitely being worked on?

I'd say that the problem certainly lies with the consumer if no game in the known universe is worth waiting for at all.
I have a Spore poster tacked on my wall for that reason.

Remember that game everyone was excited for because it was in Development for TEN years? I think it was called Duke Nukum Forever. IT sucked. Being in development that long is a very BAD thing. it means more feature creep (Features that are cool on paper that don't fit with original design plans), rewrites, re-engineering, re-rewriting, etc. If HL3 has been in it for 6 years now, then it is better that it never gets released.
. Half life 2 took six years to develop, and that's widely considered to be one of the best games of all time. Do far, Half Life 3 has been in development for under five years. Captcha: Time Will Tell. Indeed.
