Near the end it mentions that Gordon Freeman needs more personality. I think this idea is terrible, and wont come along anyway but this idea would just jar the whole series and character.

When people moan about HL3 I think the more time they spend on it the better the game is.

There's a point eventually though when such development times just become ridiculous. Valve is beginning to reach Blizzard's 'soon' levels.

In my opinion, most of the article was spot on. As for that last bit...well, they need to tread carefully. Ever since Half Life 1, Freeman has been 1% character, 99% Player avatar. Showing more of his personality and skewing that ratio a bit may not be a bad thing, but it has to be done VERY carefully. Also note, by the way, that there are more ways to show personality than having a character speak. For instance, I do not think it is a coincidence that, after Metroid Prime, most players began to associate Samus with independence. That's indirect characterization, and it can be done here.

And then, cue Metroid: Other M. XD

Please don't, I've had enough of that argument to last a lifetime.

Don't worry, I won't get into it. Anyone who frequents the interwebs has already heard all sides of that.

On the threads note, I'm pretty sure there'd be massive outrage if they announced a voice for Freeman. People were ready to go up and arms about Isaac in Dead Space 2, I don't even want to imagine what they'd do here.

Hmmm...well, I haven't played Dead Space 2 yet, but in the first, he definitely had some degree of personality already (a lot of the game was about how he was going crazy, after all), so him having a voice doesn't really bother me. Freeman, on the other hand...

edit: fixed the quote ladder to the extent I could. Still messed up, though.

Giving Freeman a personality? ...Nah. Defeats the point of him. And since I'm in firm opposition to MovieBob's view that video game main characters must always have full personalities and backstories, I'd say we should keep Freeman as a mute.

The other ideas sound cool. Unless they mean making the physics puzzles even less intuitive.

Back in the 80's a development time of 5 years wasn't considered unusual, while it's odd condsidering Half-Life was supposed to be going episodic, it hasn't been in production all that long.

I would say that they are going in for the big guns here, it won't be an episode it will be a full fledged sequel. Plus if you think it was six years later till they made Half Life 2 so my guess that this game will come out till 2013.
