Happy Halloween everyone.

Well, this is my first holiday-centric post so let's se how we get on.

As we all know, this is a time of year for scary things. Witches, demons, jack-o-lanterns and all manner of ghosts and goblins.

However, over the years, these creatures have become less and less frightening. In fact as adults there are far fewer things in this world to scare us than there used to be.

............or are there?

As we have all grown p we have become increasingly aware of all the terrible things which happen in the world - racial conflict drug abuse, murders, cults and more.

Having taken a good look at these things I cannot help but wonder whether it was better for us to stay scared of the old horrors than the new ones.

Anyone agree?

I'd say definitely, in-fact the realization of real world horros through the dawn of atomic warfare and the horrors of world war two is one of the reasons that early horror shifted from classic fantasy monsters (The Wolfman, Count Dracula, The Mummy) in the '30s and '40s to more scientifically explained horrors in the '50s like aliens and irradiated beasts.

technology is a mf, I wouldn't argue it's... whatever your arguing, I would argue that children are so exposed to "scary" (ie:CG graphics, games, books, so on) material at an early age and have a lack of imagination that there minds don't run as rampant as what they used to. Clowns though.... I don't think clowns are something people just get over no matter the exposure.
