I beat the game on the day it came out! The atmosphere is amazing and so is are the graphics! The story though was a bit liniear... on the non mission places Aka :flashbacks it plays like a metriod game exept alot more liniear again... and firefight more is crazy and realy difficult ;)
So what I'm asking fellow Escapists is: What did you think of the game?

P.S. its a great game with a matching great story; but a bit liniear...
why do I keep writing liniear?!!!!

FPS games generally are linear, the hub world of the nighttime streets of New Mombasa just gives us the option of doing the missions in whatever order we like, but it's best to follow them as they're suggested for the most cohesive story experience.

I think ODST is my favourite Halo campaign so far, and Firefight is going to be awesome when I get some good players together.

As I said before, roommate bought it, played it for 16 hours, dropped dead, woke up, still playing it. The campaign seems like fun, all I've played is firefight. In all honesty I can't wait for the hype to die.... and Borderlands begin.

The linear parts are the only parts I actually found fun..Wandering the streets just felt like an irritation I had to go through prior to getting to the next mission.

I have to say, so far it's probably the best Halo campaign since the first one. Can't speak too much for the story yet, as I'm not that far in, but the atmosphere and such is astounding. And yeah, it's a bit linear, but as compared to the other Halo games it's practically free-roaming during the New Mombasa sections. And Nathan Fillion wins.

And yeah, Firefight is awesome. And the soundtrack is yet another great score by O'Donnel and Salvatori. As expected: love it.

Having now played it I gotta say I'm impressed. The additional story 'Sadie's Journey' in particular is well told and intriguing as it gives you a civilian perspective, this makes the world feel more real. The flashback sequences while not hugely original do offer an interesting twist on standard story telling and I love the off referances to events in other games (example: What's with the dead elites? Looks like they got killed by brutes) and with non linear areas to move around in I find myself looking at enemy encounters in a different way. The music sounds great and has a different theme given the circumstances, I honestly just think it's a great and interesting game. I haven't finished it yet so I should control my gushing... also I am still very grumpy about the lack of Sangheili in this game.
I also greatly appreciated all the new maps for Halo 3 and the complete reconstruction of my multiplayer account in the second disk. Not quite as thrilled about the 'New Xbox Experiance' though but other than that I like what I see.
