I could've sworn they said Reach was going to be the last Halo game. So I was like "WTF?"

I am dissapointed. It just... looks wrong and Cortana calling him John all of a sudden? And the jetpack!? And the fact it looks like they're trying to turn it into a non-stop action movie?
1) john is his real name and the only people that really know him enough to know/use it are cortana and dr halsey

2) i don't know about the jetpack, maybe it was installed by cortana whilst he was sleeping or something. maybe he picked it up off screen. it's a really pointless continuity error to get worked up about

3) they're on half of a burning ship heading towards a mysterious structure as the ship is exploding. what did you expect him to do, calmly walk there?
1) I know his name is John, but in the games she always refered to him as 'chief'. It's out of character.

2) Installed with what equipment /power/ without waking him? I agree it's a bit pointless to get worked up about, but it seems to just be really badly crow barred in at the last minute.

3) Yes. /petulance. But seriously, not like that. Also, I don't expect him to be able to just jump out a cryo tube and be perfectly fine and know exactly what to do.

I love this franchise, I just don't want to see it ruined because of a few errors in judgement.

EDIT: although I am interested in this new planet.
fair enough, it just seemed like you were being a bit picky at first

as for the original topic, i was excited because it would actually advance the story rather than bridging the games together. since halo 3 there's been halo wars, halo: ODST and halo: reach, none of which you play as chief during

also, my initial reaction to the trailer prompted me to make this video

Now, if you ask me, the trailer was boring and useless. Yes, I got board watching the trailer. The only other trailer that bored me that much was the one for Starcraft II (but at least that one had impressive graphics). I will stand by this opinion.

The chief has been in cryo for an undetermined amount of time in an undetermined part of space. He could be anywhere and there are limitless possibilities left by the ending of halo 3. I hope that i dont have to fight the covenant again and maybe a whole new enemy. Maybe forerunners i dunno or something totally new. I was skeptical about it but 343 seem so far to know what they are doing.

Oh and to make the story less disjointed and stuff keep the characters to chief cortana and the bad guys since they made a point in halo 3 of saying they wont be encountering humans in a long time.
Basically this.

I don't have easy access to an XBox 360, but the Halo Universe (and by extension, maybe the Marathon and Pathways into Darkness universes) are so full of interesting possibilities that I'd really like to see what happens. Yes, the controls and gameplay will likely still be largely the same, but a new setting, narrative, and enemies could really shake things up. If the Covenant is left behind (heck, make the Chief the only human we ever see in the campaign), it could have the potential to be as awesome and immersive as, say, Bioshock.

I'll never buy it, but I'll still be interested in it. Hopefully means more cool toys for Rooster Teeth to use in Red vs. Blue!

As for Anniversary, just for the record, they already said that they were fixing the Chief's helmet, and just couldn't get it out in time for E3. Other than that, though, I disagree. I think it all still feels incredibly Halo-ish. But hey, the future will tell which of us is right.
Which one of us is right?! Dude! Opinions are not facts they can't be correct nor incorrect! Anyway, just drop it! It's clear we have to differing opinions, so let's just leave it at that and agree to disagree!

Hey I'm interested. We finally get to fight a new enemy so it has the potential to be interesting. I've always been fascinated by the halo universe.

Whoa, dude... chill... All I'm saying is that, when the games come out, one of us might change our minds. Could be you, could be me. Could be neither. That's all.

I realize that if I'm entitled to enjoy my rehashed Zelda's, Mario's and Pokeyman, that the Xbox owners are allowed to enjoy their game. IF they promise to clean up the xbox live user base a little.
As a hardcore Halo fan, I support this proposed purge.

I'm quite excited. Reasonably excited. Well, I'm more curious than anything. Definitely curious about what you'll be fighting and what the big-glowy-thing is.

Is a man not entitled to originality and good games?

No says the man at microsoft, we sell what proves to sell,

No says Call of duty makers, war is too much fun,

No says the first person shooter genre, what's more fun than pointing and shooting?

Well I reject these realities and choose my own.

I choose the RPGs and RTSs.
It's funny because you're referencing an FPS. ¬_¬
Which is also funny considering I didn't like that one either, just the backstory, not the actual game story, but the backstory. Everything else just put this on par, or below Halo.

I am excited! everyone's saying the trailer was confusing and vague, but it's really obvious that it's going to be a Master Chief Vs. Unicron crossover battle:

Notice the big light that unicron uses to suck the planet in, totally the same one from the trailer.

"WAKE UP, JOHN!"

"HOLY SHIT YES."

And then I came a little.

You two are way to pessimistic.
Pretty much this except through the entire Kinect presentation I was chanting "HALO 4 HALO 4 HALO 4" and then they started the trailer and made the announcement about the trilogy I was like damn T.T once I reached this point it progressed the same as above

It's just for money. I didn't care and was not surprised.
Yes, which makes the sequels inferior to those free flash games you find online. I'm sorry, but that has got to be the single dumbest reason to dismiss a video game.

As for me I was rather dumb founded. Halo Reach has been out for less than a year and they're not only announcing a remade Halo CE for November 15 this year, but also Halo 4 through 6? There is such a thing as pacing.

Let?s use our imaginations here. Let?s say some good old game and their franchise are a family member. Now the game losing popularity or undergo a developer team switch or anything else that usually constitutes the death of a franchise will literally count as this person?s death. Every now and then a bunch of jerks with shovels will come by and dig up the corpse and desecrate it to their own ends unders some BS pretext. This usually takes awhile. In Halo?s case, this is like these assholes pulling up with shovels during the freaking funeral. I know it was never said that Halo was gonna be ended permanently with Halo Reach, just that Bungie would be moving on to new stuff while 343 Industries would handle the Halo license.

Other than feeling that MS is pushing it a bit too fast, I will say I am excited by the prospect of a new Halo game as well as the remake of the first. What concerns me is that the games industry seems to be conspiring to make sure i don't have money during the holidays for this year and next. Skyrim and Halo Anniversary have a mere 4 days between launches and next year has Heart of the Swarm as well as Halo 4 about Christmas time.

As is, I always wonder how often the people that accuse some developers of milking a license like Halo or Star Wars, then turn around and ask for a sequel in a franchise they like. That's kind of hypocritical, mates. Just because you don't like it doesn't mean it's played out.

With Halo 4 I see literally all sorts of things that can be done. The Flood is gone, the Ark has been damaged, and in case you blinked and missed it the Human-Covenant War has ended. This means all the enemies you're used to fighting in Halo have been defeated or have joined your side. Some say that's a good stopping point, while others are like "Are the Forerunners really dead? And what happens with the human- elite alliance?" Literally there's a ton of stuff that can happen in Halo 4. Will MC finally meet up with his lost fellow Spartan 2 buddies in the Forerunner Shield Word which was a dyson-sphere in another dimension.

Agreed. Bungie's community was too epic. I have full respect for them not wanting their franchise to be bastardised so hard it went on forever. Unfortunately they can't stop that from happening, so they're not a part of it. Still... It's a shame.

The Jetpack still needs to be put physically on him. AI cannot change the Spartans physical appearance. They have no power to do stuff like that to a Spartan.

Stated in the book.

If my father didn't keep pestering me to play Halo: Reach with him 100 times a month I would be fond of this. So now there's another Halo game... where's the Halo?

I wouldn't say anything yet as there is nothing to say about it.

I was really disappointed. The second I saw Master Chief, I'm like "Jesus this series is getting old." Also, because it's out of the hands of Bungie, that made me think it's going to suck.
