Halo 3's infamous too-small-for-humans helmet.
Say what you like about the Halo 3 Legendary Edition (I think I paid something like £70 for that) it still holds up today as my personal best limited/exclusive/special edition of any game, based purely on the amount of content inside.

Not only did you get the game (thank god) there were two other discs packed with extra content; plent of making-of content as well as Halo 1 and 2 cutscenes edited together with commentary from the creators. That's lengthy and worthwhile entertainment in itself. That's without mentioning the "too-small-for-humans helmet" which I still have and still looks awesome.

Too many special editions are lazy and full of nonsense you don't want or need but they are somehow made to look "cool" when thrown together, especially when they're then labelled as "special or "limited." But no other special edition of a game has had so much content so relevant to the buyer and so obviously lovingly crafted as Halo 3. Still my personal favourite, still has not been topped.

That said, after what 343i did to Halo 4... yeah, they'll fuck this one up too. I bought a PS4; Halo is dead to me.

For $250, I'm pretty sure you get matchmaking and multiplayer to work when you actually buy the game instead of a month or two later.

I haven't even read the responses to this article but I know this: they wouldn't sell it if it didn't make them money. They have proof that people pay out their noses for franchises they love. I'm certainly guilty of it. They don't care about the little guys quibbling in the comments sections. They care about people dropping cash money on their product. They've done a masterful job, IMO, of giving the guy or girl screwing their rent check to get the $250 dollar edition of the game a temporary high. Makes them feel like they're up there with the "whales" and that air feels pristine.

Just wait. If the sales of this are high enough, they'll have a $1000 edition put out.

Oh boy, oh boy. So, for $250 we'll not only get the game but also... the box?

This was just perfect.

Wait:
Halo 5 has a subtitle?
That is so damn weird.
Like, the Halo games with subtitles have always been spinoffs like ODST and Reach and God-Awful RTS.
But this is a mainline game.
Holy damn shit
If I remember correctly the first Halo had the subtitle of Combat Evolved.
