Forge world. I see forge world as nothing more than a huge map divided into several remakes of older maps from previous halos. While there is nothing wrong with this, im not getting down and prasing it as the best thing ever. For one thing, how do you stop people from leving the areas you've forged and the ones you havent? Im looking foward to the game none the less though.

EDIT:

It looks cool but I don't really have the patience to create whole maps like that.
Thats why there exist people who take advanced geometry classes for the sole purpose of creating halo maps. And people like you and me get to reap what they sow.
You can actually forge the map boundaries and invisible walls yourself now, to answer your question.

OT: I'm hoping there's still enough limitations to encourage others to work as close to those limits as possible (like in Halo 3).

I loved forge in Halo 3 (despite its infuriating faults) but now I can hardly contain myself. the new options, interface, and material states (phased, fixed, and normal) were enough to win me over, but forge world is just incredible. to have a map that big with that level of detail is impressive

Forge World looks cool and there seem to be an endless amount of gametypes that can be made with it and the tools are much more user friendly this time around.
Also as I understand, you get to choose between Spartan or Elite to play as while playing Forge and according to rumor and a few screenshots, it seems like you can have mixed groups of Spartans and Elites. So that's one hell of a cherry on top for Forge World, for me at least.

This has made forge quite easy to play. Now Halo Reach offers players the opportunity to have endless maps to download. Bungie, as opposed to Infinity Ward does not try to milk us for every dollar.

Brilliant. When I saw this... well I can't even describe it. Every time I hear news about Reach it's gets more and more awesome. I'm getting this the minute I have money for it.

It's odd. I hate Halo, but this does look really good. I'll have to give it a go, definitely. I'd been waiting for Reach to surprise me, and it has.
it always looks good. an IP with that much money shouldnt need any kind of flashy trailer.
I know, but in terms of gameplay, and the fact that you can construct actual levels rather than put items in existing ones, changes it up a bit.

Only experience I've had with terraforming was in Far Cry 2, and that was pretty awesome despite the game being disappointing overall.
This looks amazing. Now all we need is bots, so I don't have to go online to use multiplayer..

Don't think they said anything about Terraforming.

More no-clipping objects into positions.
There seemed to be a lot of odd rock-formations.

meh. I find such delicious ignorance in people (talking about my school here) that think a level editor is recent news. its not like they havent been on pc for fuckin 15 years.
Well ForgeWorld seems a bit more user friendly than most level editors. Forge in Halo 3 wasn't user friendly at all, and personally I thought it was impossible to make any decent maps without really fucking with the system. ForgeWorld fixes alot of problems people had with Forge.

and also takes away 99% of the freedom that most level editors have.
Yeah I agree, but in most cases that kind of freedom is hard to do on consoles.

What the hell are you even saying here? "It's got a big name studio behind it. They shouldn't need to look impressive!"

By your reasoning if it were truly a good game the trailer would involve nothing but a dowdy man giving a voice-over to a series of bullet points, right? After all, if it was a truly good game it wouldn't need anything so flashy as music or interesting frame cuts.

If there's something funnier than people loving a game just because it sells well, it's people hating a game because it sells well.

go to yahtzee's "dante's inferno" review. obviously shit games get hyped up with flashy trailers and such. You are either going to buy it, or not. nothing will change peoples minds. BTW music is just as much a piece of a game as the art style.
Just because shit games make themselves look good in their trailers doesn't mean a game that looks good in its trailer will be shit. Every single game trailer attempts to make the game it is portraying look good. That is the job of a trailer. Every game is going to be marketed and promoted. Just because a game is marketed and promoted a lot doesn't mean it is going to be shit.

If it were good it wouldn't need marketing? Ever heard of Psychonauts? I assure you, the reason why the game didn't sell well wasn't due to its lack of quality.

and here we have a shitty game, halo which has a massive following. if you look at my first post you would see that I said, "it always looks good."
If you think high production value at the marketing stage necessitates a bad game, then you're wrong. Tell me why Halo is ?shitty?. Tell me why you can, with authority, place Halo on a line between the words Good game and Bad game in defiance of the people who say they find it fun.

Can you provide objective justification?

I find halo stupid and boring.
I dont care about other peoples opinions in the way it affects my own. High production values do not make a bad game but it certinally does not make a good one.
So in short, no, you can not provide objective justification. You find it personally boring. That's fair enough. Personally I thought the same about Red Dead Redemption and Mass Effect, but I wouldn't tell fans of them that they're 'shitty' based on my own subjective interpretations either, because I don't possess the sort of ego that makes me think my personal opinion is worth more than the thousands of people who actually liked those games, and with justification for doing so as well.

Cool. Just checking.
