As we all know, Bungie Studios is makeing a RTS called Halo Wars. Based off the very popular series Halo. A FPS Theres a huge a5s f*cking promblem with this, First off Not very many people that play halo say "Hey you want to play Civ: Revolution" after they get done playing infection. Bungie is making halo take the bullet to the mouth insisting hardcore FPS Play RTS
This is a Halo player playing halo wars five mintiutes into this. "ZOMG DIS SHIZ GAI I GO PLAY CoD:WoW Nowe" I don't really know who there trying to attract to this game, They diehard halo fans are going to be super pissed they can't play M4sterchi3f and the RTS'ers are going to be pissed because of crappy disign and poor Tatics. Of corse this game is going to be bought by both parties and everyone is going to be pissed. But incase Bungie has a super miracle and sprouts butterflies out of it's Arse I don't believe it will be a good game. I might rent it just to see. What does the Escapist feel about Halo Wars?

First off, Bungie is NOT i repeat NOT making Halo Wars... Can't stress nor repeat that enough. Ensemble studios is making it, after being licensed by Microsoft, who actually own the IP...

With that being said, I'm not an RTS fan anyway, I don't claim to be, and I'm sure that Microsoft is banking on those who play Halo to be unfamiliar with the genre and wish to expand it by throwing Halo into the fray. It could work it could fail we'll see...

They have Halo Actionclix, a miniatures game relying more on strategy than rabid button-wailing, so obviously there must be some intersecting interests in both realms.

That would be a valid point if Civ: Rev was an RTS. Which it very much isn't. Also, Halo isn't a series of games, it's a universe, a setting, a mythos and, above all, a chunk of Intellectual Property. If you already have a familiar setting, there's no reason in the world why you can't take said setting and explore a different area of it, go in a different direction.

I'd like to see more existing franchises expanded in this way. Drop the shallow stock characters and just see where else you can go in that universe. Explore, expand and create, damnit.

Does he need some aids' help?

Aid = guy that help people do stuff, like a health aid helps keep up health or a diet aid to make sure you don't eat crap. Ah, good old aids joke.

Could someone tell me why OP is so angry about his casual console FPS game is getting a sequel?

while i am dissipointed at their decision to not put playable covenant in the game i like console RTSs. LOTR: BFME 2 being a personal favorite of the genre. and that gives me a reason to like the concept of a halo RTS

Seriously?

I love the Halo series and I am looking forward to Halo Wars as I also enjoy RTS'. It's really not that complicated, the sterotypical frat-boy, casual gamer you so callously attribute to the Halo fanbase will obviously not buy this game BECAUSE it isn't an FPS.

And although I'm pretty sure that everyone hates little kids on Xbox Live, they ARE the next generation of gaming, for alot of them this may be thier first foray into the RTS universe.

Maybe the game can create some new RTS fans, is that such a bad thing?
And anyways, it seems that you hate Halo anyway, so what exactly is your motivation for this topic? Other than of course trying to spark a flame war....

What logic are you basing this upon? I know you don't think very highly of the stereotypical halo player, which is fair enough, but do you really think they're so retarded that they will stop playing one game because they don't like a different one? Especially since alll they have in common is the setting?

And what does it really matter if all the idiots leave Halo 3? Are you suggesting that an effective smacktard removal will make the game worse?

Plus in my experience, all the pricks play Call of Duty already, as they only want to play shooters which make you feel like a 'big man'.

You might have been using scarcasm when you talked in leet but I don't care, it was just a bad thing to read.

I'm a Halo fan, and I'll get this, i enjoy fps and rts games because I don't like to restrict myself to one genre of game type. From what I've seen of the game so far it looks relatively well done and appealing. I think this is a good thing as it shows there is more to the halo universe than generic shooters, I for one have always enjoyed the story and read the books, and i hope Halo wars progresses that. If we get rid of some of the idiots that bumper jump around in multiplayer games and teabag people, so much the better.

It got me.
I'm honestly more excited for this then for the launch of Halo 3. Largely because its an independent IE with enough backing to support a horse, with both Bungie and Ensemble Studios working on development and story.

You see I've always liked the plot of halo, and its universe really resonates with me (not to the point where I would opt to read the books). However the latest installment had very little plot, and was a mockery of Halo:CE atmosphere/storytelling abilities.

This new branch of the series has potential to dive beyond the shallow warmongering story of MC, and divulge into the actual struggles of the humans VS covenant. So rather then being a vestigial structure of the halo franchise, I hope it become another flagship.

I am looking forward to it, split-screen and on a console, as long as they don't zogg up the controls it won't be bad. I mean ensemble are making it.

Indeed it is... This is their last game before the company is dissolved and it's employees must find new work...

I wasn't aware they were going completely out of work. I was under the impression that it was just being absorbed into Microsoft.

Anything that could potentially expand the RTS fanbase I'm all for, and hey, it could just end up allowing for a step towards good console RTSs, which I am all for. If there is a fanbase, then people will make them.

While I believe that's an option for the company, I don't believe everyone is getting absorbed...
