I thought they stopped it, or put it on hold or something. I forget reasons.

Comingsoon.net usually has everything you need to know about movies and their release dates.

From what I know, it was cancelled and the crew turned some of the leftover footage into District 9; which I feel is better than anything based on Halo could ever be.

It was basically canceled.

I'd say its a good thing. I love Halo and I don't want a movie based on it and turn out really bad. Unless its made by the guys who did the ODST commercial.

well if it has been cancelled could anyone tell me why people are still saying that it's just been put on hold and what are they going to do with the props.

I checked on this, and found this on IMDB.

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0464037/

It lists Halo as still scheduled for 2012, and lists it as "in production". Thought I'd try to help out.

The film was binned some time ago, there was never any filming.

<spoiler=The first 8 minutes thing on Youtube><youtube=d6g1yyWEfks>This is actually a Halo 3 promo video, or parts of 3 promo videos cut together with some home editing and stock space footage.

Basically Fox wanted to cut the budget (the entire budget) and make Microsoft stump up all the money, or else hand sole creative control to Fox, which would include access to the Halo name as muc has they wanted. Was never going to work.

It's on hold, indefinately, with no screenplay, no writer, no director, no cast, no production company and no budget.

Well, not the worst scenario. They could have given away the project to Uwe Boll...

I don't know anything about a full movie, but here's a short live action one.

Um, yea Halo is the most generic FPS with the added insults of hundreds of little bastards playing it (Children). The movie would be absolutely terrible.
I love how people just insult Halo by calling it generic. Yes it's "generic" because it was the first real modern 3D FPS that was good and sold. Therefore most generic FPS games are based on Halo. It being generic is due to how good Halo was, and is a really bad go at insulting halo.

The storyline though could very much be called a generic Sci-Fi story, as it's not entirelly original.

It was canned due to lack of finding a proper director for the film or some other reason. Whatever the reason is i really don't care.

I hear it was scrapped, and thank God for that, what the world doesn't need is another movie based off a video game to put false hopes, time, efforts, and money into.
