Neither the lock on nor lunge were functions of the sword itself in halo. Instead, it locks on because you're stuck in an animation and the lunge is to help make up for the painfully short range. While I'm not master chief (and thus don't have power armor and cybernetics) even when I fence I find that I use the lunge regularly. The actual move that he does isn't really a lunge though - it's more of a fleche.Joshimodo said:The rockets in two of the games feature a lock-on/tracking system, and are fairly quick.Eclectic Dreck said:Rocket Launcher - The first weapon in the list that has anything notable about it. It essentailly functions in the same fashion as a modern disposable anti-tank weapon but it gets two shots out of the deal. The rockets are unguided and clearly are not terribly effective at piercing armor. Worse still, the rockets travel disconcertingly slow meaning trying to hit a moving target would be fantastically difficult. The fact that you get two shots out of the launcher before needing to reload is perhaps the weapon's only perk, but this is handily counterbalanced by it's tremendous bulk, which would force it to be carried as the primary and perhaps only weapon of a modern non-super soldier.
Not to mention, it gives off barely ANY visible sign of being fired, unlike every other disposable RPG.
It's not just armour that stops normal swords, it's muscle tissue and bone. The Energy Sword wouldn't have trouble with it, at all.Eclectic Dreck said:Energy Sword - given that nobody wears armor that is designed to deflect a sword these days (ballistic plates would serve somewhat well), the energy sword is rendered more or less irrelevent because it's key advantage over a normal sword is it's ability to bypass armor.
Not to mention it has a lock on, and lunge.
The ODST pistol is actually the Halo 2 pistol with a few attachments (sound suppressor and smart link scope specifically) and the Halo 3 pistol is supposedly a magnum version of the Halo 1 pistol. But really no game has the same pistol.sgtshock said:They say they're bringing back the old pistol for Halo: ODST, but they said that about Halo 3, too.
But that's the best part! you get to punch people!Anachronism said:Shotgun. Nothing particularly special, but bear in mind that they don't actually make 8-gauge shotguns in the real world: the recoil could probably dislocate your arm! Provided I managed to modify it so that that didn't happen, imagine the fun I could have with it. And imagine the noise it would make when you fired it! Glorious!
I'd rather have a lightsabre. They don't run out of ammo.Amnestic said:Energy Sword. The activation noise it makes is just...mmm... I love it. Plus it doubles up as a torch if I'm lost in the dark.
All the way, this and the shotgun for close encounter makes you unstoppable.Armored Prayer said:Halo one Pistol.
I will be unstoppable.
