I'm fed up with the sheer volume of morbid and depressing threads in this forum, considering it's Christmas. What I would love for people to do is share their favourite Christmas stories, and if you don't have one a story of a time when you were utterly happy will do.

Let's get some happiness flowing up in this beatch.

This thread is fucking depressing, but I'll give it a shot! My life is pretty awesome! I have some great friends, a lovely family and home and probably a bright future in front of me! :D

In Denmark, 300 people were snowed in and could not use the ferry to get off an island (bornholm), nor could they get further inland. So they spent Christmas night in a giant gymnasium where they all danced, sang and ate proper danish Christmas-food, together. The stores surrounding the hall even opened on the 24th so they could buy presents for each other, even if they were not family.

(We celebrate the entire Christmas with presents and all, on the 24th here, in the evening, which means normally everything is closed.)

I have to say that our thoughts were with those who couldn't spend Christmas with family, but it's still a small "christmas-miracle".

That was delightful.
You are not welcome in this thread. It is for happy things only.

See? He gets it. Nothing says family togetherness like drunken fistfights.

What makes me laugh is that we'll see about 20 depressing threads a day on 'scapist, then one 'Come on guys, cheer up!' sort of threads in the midst. Wash, rinse, repeat.

I haven't seen my family all together in a happy environment for about 8 months, so it was good to see them. It was just a loud, fun Christmas with lots of drinking which was good enough for me.

On Christmas eve this year, I had my first kiss with the cutest girl I've ever met.

She's coming over to my house in 20 minutes so we can go take a talk downtown(and my parents aren't home.) ;D

It snowed here, and I was out for a walk, I came to a roughly 30-foot hill that's got a couple of inches all the way down, managed to glide down the whole thing AND stick the landing.

It was awesome. This was on Christmas Eve. I'd met up with all my friends for one last 2010 hurrah on the 23rd, which was also amazing.

Um... we just spent an hour playing Monopoly...?

If you're interested, no-one managed to buy any sets of properties early on, so we spent the entire game hoarding the small amounts of rent we could get with our ungrouped properties (with no houses etc.) while no-one dared to make any trades since that would have given someone else a set and we all had loads of money.

I'm on winter break, I have enough money to eat and pay rent between now and when the spring 2011 financial aid comes in for college, I'm looking at a sweet tax refund thanks to the Obama administration making education credits refundable, and everyone is leaving me the fuck alone for a change, which means three more weeks (first two are in the books) of nothing but gaming, screwing around online, and occasionally fielding phone calls from my favorite late-night vocal companion (my friend Kat, who I adore.)

Throw in the Celtics off to a great start, the Patriots getting the #1 seed in the playoffs, and the Steam Holiday Sale, and yeah, I be rockin' this ***** up and down the block, yo.
