Yes, what an abstract concept!

I've recently been thinking about 'happiness' a lot, and wondered what you guys make of it. Namely, what brings it? I know various people, and the most common answers are Money and Women....do you agree/disagree?

I'd like to say that after being comfortable financially for a while, it seems that money and the things it buys are ultimately just items of distraction to keep you from actually being miserable, but doesn't actually make you happy. I think true happiness is achieved through human connections and a spiritual existence within ones self...not religion though, but that sort of area.

Dopamine! No, you probably wanted something else... Well, when you satisfy a goal is about the simplest way I can distill it down to, even if you down write it down as a goal, it was still a desire.

Yeah, that's my answer as well. Although apparently helping your child achieve one of their goals is even better according to my parents.

sitting in a comfy chair with some coffee and cigarettes and the heat turned up, being relaxed and doing some mindless gaming stuff, like filling a level completely with water in shooter, or building giant empires with guards on every corner in an rts on easy with cheats, that is an easy way to make me happy.

I can sooort of agree with the women part... but then I don't think in the way that your talking about.

See, I become very happy when I get hugs from women, particularly girls that I like (as friends) ^_^ I don't particularly care about sex or whatever, I just like the hugs :)

I can't agree with money though, you can never buy happiness.

For me, I can find happiness from before mentioned hugs, but also from general happy moments... seeing total strangers help each other with the small day-to-day things (like helping pick up stuff if someone's dropped somethign) makes me happy, as well as seeing my friends happy ^_^

Happiness, for me, is the little things in life. Having someone random smile at me, or give me a compliment (always nice, as long as it's not in a creepy sort of way). Helping someone out with something always gives me the warm fuzzies as well. And, of course, just relaxing with friends.

Happiness (subjet to change): Watching good episodes of Columbo, House or any other good detective drama before going off to a job that pays well and that I don't hate. When I get home there is a tasty curry waiting on the table. Then after a quick blast on Diablo 3 it's off to the pub for a drink with my mates, before stumbling home and falling asleep in a nice clean king sized bed.

That for me would be happiness right now.

For me, having a few good loyal friends, a sweet meaningful relationship and an interesting job that is close to your hobbies without ever having to be a hypocrite. That's a dream worth having.

I hate it when people say money cant buy happiness. Because money is used to buy all the things that bring you happiness.

Does an awesome game of team Fortress 2 make you happy? well it took money to get it.
What about long drives with good music? no matter how old the car it still is gonna take money to get it running or putting gas in the tank
Sunsets at the beach? if you live far away its gonna take some sort of money to get there.

Money doesn't buy "happiness" but it sure as hell help getting what makes you happy.

No way. You guys have got this all wrong.

Happiness is a warm gun.

Or making a shot to the knees of a target 120 kilometers away using an Aratech sniper rifle with a tri-light scope.

Fry and Laurie, House, The West Wing, KitKats, lemonade, orange juice, alcohol, video games and idiots make me happy.

However, idiots can also make me unhappy, depending on my mood.

If I'm already in a good mood, then I am a Mr. Bennet of sorts, finding idiots hilarious and easy to confuse with complex verbiage.

If I'm in a bad mood, then idiots depress me with the knowledge that there are so many of them and none of them will ever be changed, and I am unable to punch the shit out of them for being so God-damn one-dimensional and stupid.

I do like shooting. It's very relaxing and stress reducing. Happiness is a perfect shot with a Palma rifle.

Happiness is also a good guitar playing the blues.

Happiness is when you're not thinking about how anything sucks.

When you're doing soemthing and nothing is bothering you.

Happiness is spicy chicken wrapped in bacon with melted cheese on it.

Happiness should be how you feel about what you have done.

I'm damn poor, getting poorer, and can't seem to improve my situation.

Know what? Still happy.

I think happiness is when you do what you want to do, and don't regret doing it. That, or I'm confusing happiness for something else.
