Okay, through various circumstances, I have emerged amazingly depressed and emotionally drained. I need a good, generic, lovey-dovey anime... The sooner the better please. Oh, and don't give me those things that "You don't need an anime, you need a shrink!" because its probably not as dangerous as I made it sound.

Samurai Champloo! Oh wait, there's drama...
Cowboy Bebop! Oh wait, there's drama...
Afro Samurai! Oh wait, there's drama...
One Piece! Oh wait, that series made me cry for hours....

Read Toriko!!

EDIT: Actually, let's just watch all those anime-series together. That way we can cry together! Better than crying alone at least.

It's probably not exactly what you're looking for, but you might find Mushishi far more theraputic than a conventional anime. It's quiet and contemplative, and sometimes that sort of reflective work is just what one needs.

Lucky Star! Just watch the intro and you'll see exactly what I mean. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ViEH57xQu1c

Azumanga Daioh is one of the most hilarious anime ever created.

EDIT: It's not an anime, but the manga Saint Young Men is one of the happiest and funny things human-kind has ever created. It's a manga about Jesus Christ and Buddha rooming together in modern Japan. It's a sin that they haven't adapted this to anime yet.

Lucky Star. Definately Lucky Star. Once you get past the initial feeling of What the fuck is going on?, you'll realize how funny it is.

Really? One Piece is probably one of the funniest animes I've seen. When its not taking itself seriously that is.

OT: Air Gears pretty light hearted, the mangas not but the anime episodes are. Ai Yori Aoshi, Kamisama Kazoku, and Spice and Wolf (season 1) are also pretty light hearted. Eureka 7's got a happy ending but its not such a happy trip.

Yeah, One Piece is one of the funniest series ever. But man does that show do good drama when it wants to..
Almost every origin story has made me tear-eyed.

Minami-ke, To-Love-Ru, Karin, Lucky Star

That's all I can think of that I've ever seen.

EDIT: Oh, and Sgt. Frog aka Keroro Gunso

EDIT2: Oh, and definitely SD Gundam. The first episode was so fantastic.

EDIT3: Or you could just listen to Karate by Tenacious D. That song always cheers me up

*Toradora... its a sweet slice of life / comedy series. It has a slightly sad 2nd series but its still sweet. It has a decent lenght to it (20 something episodes)

*Rozen Maiden, the first series is good but... i found the 2nd series a bit depressing though, especially because of a somewhat abrupt ending with little closure. (better off with the manga imo) DESU~

*Hyakko, another slice of life/comedy... its more quirky then toradora and shorter too

*I primarily watch animes that have some dark twist to them but these few are a couple of my favourite exceptions... i HIGHLY recommend Toradora.

If your not too concerned about genre i have a few other options but they might be a bit too mushy for some. Most of these animes seem to carry with it a vibe of girls only BUT believe it or not, they are all directed at male audiances (rozen maiden is actually aimed at male college students and upwards which was a surprise for me.)

If you want i can PM you a couple of decent anime streaming sites with HUGE selections of dubbed/subbed animes/movies or manga viewing sites with a good number of books to choose from.(you might end up a bit of a recluse depending on how affected you are by anime :p)

ENJOY!

Check out the Aria series, starting with Aria the Animation.

A little slice-of-life anime with nothing but calm atmosphere with cute anime girls riding around in gondolas and having little adventures.

If that's not happy, I don't know what is.

Happy huh? Well I would start with Lucky Star and if you like that, then Pani Poni Dash is an excellent and funny choice. Won't give any spoilers but basically it's about a 11 year old genius girl who has to teach a high school class.

Here's a trailer, it's the Dub though which is good, but if you prefer Subbed then just go with that.

Higurashi no naku koro ni, or Elfen Lied. They're happy in a pyschotic way.

If you're a ***** who can't handle the depression, go with the Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya, or Lucky Star.

Or Inouchyouu, that'll make you "Happy".
