[HEADING=1]HAPPY BIRTHDAY MADIBA[/HEADING]
First I would like to say Happy Birthday to my country's hero and icon. It is his 93rd birthday today, and he has done incredible things, and lived a less than easy life.
While this is more relevant to my South African self, I feel that Madiba is still an important figure in World-Wide History, and so it is... Discussion time:
Nobel Peace Prize winner, Nelson Mandela, had quite a controversial early life in the struggle, and he served a lot of time in jail for it, finally coming out to South Africa as a hero of all the people, He would see to the interests of all groups, served a good term as president, and both he and FW De Klerk made sure that all this happened peacefully.
Your opinions I want to hear from this:
-What do YOU think of Nelson Mandela?
-The Escapist loves to talk of evil leaders, but who do think has been the best leader of your country and of any country?
-What do you think is the best way for a country to move past racism? Policies may be removed, but social problems are a little bit more challenging in this regard.
-What do you think of a president who has spent time in jail? And to what degree do you think people can change for the better?
If it wasn't Incredibly obvious, I have a lot of respect and admiration for the man.
