Happy Pi day everyone! Its once again the auspicious date of 3.14.

Enjoy a musical segment:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4C9PALaDh2U

What will you do on this great day?

I myself shall eat pie and listen to wonderful music. Also I shall wash clothes, but i digress.

The tip of the day is: "bowties are cool", supplied to you by captcha.

(very surprised this has not been posted yet, and search did not yield anything either)

EDIT: Apparently, the escapist did not like the letter π in the title. Mod help plox?

EDIT 2: Obviously, youtube doesn't work.

Oh no, I best be careful. I don't want to derail the thread into a date format argument.
CHEESE PIE! PIE FOR EVERYONE!
Or 31 April if you want 10 times Pi!
Although April doesn't have the day 31...

Oh shit, I'm derailing the thread too!

What musical segment :c

Kinda weird seeing that whenever someone says "Yay pi day!" you're bound to have people argue over date formats, such a sad fact that we can't get along...

OT: I do not like Pi, it makes my thinkerbox hurt. Pie on the other hand is delicious.

I know the date format is silly, but as long as the world doesn't recognize the superiority of my 14-month system, that adds Novbruary and Decempril, we cannot celebrate pi any other way.

A Hermit's Cave
Haven't looked at the vid because Youtube is disabled at work... but suddenly want to listen to some Tom Lehrer if we want to science nerd-out in music... -_-

As the university's resident Maths-for-fun staff would be quick to remind you, 22/7 is a better approximation to pi than 3.14

I think that day is actually called Pi Approximation day, according to wikipedia.

Yeah, I don't understand how the worse approximation got to be Pi Day and the better approximation got stuck with Pi Approximation Day. No justice I tell ya.

I get that, but it isn't as catchy as 3.14, and we sort of lose our excuse for eating pie.

And you know how it is with appealing to the masses, right. I'ts all about the wrapping.

It is signifying a correct date but it's omitting the year and using dots as separators instead of dashes.

...yeah, I just felt it appropriate to to work some xkcd into Pi day somehow.
