Hard Reset Gameplay Trailer Debuts

The first Hard Reset [http://hardresetgame.com/] gameplay trailer is out, showing off action that's fast, furious and quite literally eye-gouging.

No, the visuals in this new Hard Reset trailer won't reach over and pluck your eyes out, but remember the steel-jawed hardass who showed up in the announcement video [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/news/view/111641-Cyberpunk-Shooter-Hard-Reset-Revealed]? Let's just say that he ain't so pretty no more. Experience, as the trailer warns, comes at a price and that price is apparently your face.

Looking at the gameplay side of the coin, what do we see? The visuals are decent, if not exactly cutting edge, and surprisingly colorful for a game set in an end-of-the-world future in which humanity is making its last stand against the onslaught of the machines. The two guns on display don't have the knock-you-on-your-ass visceral kick of a good old-fashioned boomstick, but they look appropriately futuristic and appear to have a flexibility to them that you just won't find in your average, everyday coach gun.

It's impossible to make any sort of definitive judgment about a game based solely on a fast-cut first trailer, but there's something magical about debut releases from eastern European shooter studios that makes just about anything possible. In other words, my hopes are high! Just remember to wear CSA-approved protective goggles at all times while playing.

Flying Wild Hog's Hard Reset comes out in September, exclusively for the PC.

Too bad that it's exclusive PC, otherwise I'd have been interested. But for those with a up to date PC, seems like a fun game. Of course, it's impossible to tell right now, but I prefer to be optimistic with these sort of things.

PS: The Flying Wild Hog is a Polish developer that is made up from members of People Can Fly, and former developers from CD Projekt and City Interactive.

Looks like history may repeat itself. Who want to bet this will be a sleeper hit then the developers will be bought up by a big-shot publisher who will force them to make a rushed shitty cover based shooter for consoles with aim-down-sights?

Just like Bulletstorm.

Looks like it will play fast. Like an old-school FPS.

This has secured this game my attention.

EDIT:

Graphics cards are cheap and powerful.

For the cost of a single console game you can get something like an AMD 5670 that'll play Crysis on High settings.

http://www.anandtech.com/show/2917/5

Or the GT440

And if you're about to say "but when I play $60 for a consoel game I get a game"

Well just considering PC gamign you get access to a load of free games:
-Team Fortress 2
-Alien Swarm
-FEAR Combat
-League of Legends
-Savage 2: A tortured Soul
-Wolfenstein: enemy territory
-Trackmania nations Forever
-Half Life 2: deathmatch
-Spiral Knights
-Global Agenda

Hell, there are more than I can even remember, this site complies a lot of them:

I don't know what to think of that gameplay trailer.

It looks colorful, but they don't do anything with it.

The only impression I get is that this will be a generic 6 hour shooter with some multi-player tagged on as well.

Not if the mob who founded it don't like what happened with PCF and are determined to avoid it.

...Except that I have a laptop. So that $60 just became $2500. So, yeah...

Dude, unless your PC is 15 years old and cant handle more than Windows Me or something I think you might be able to play Hard Reset on some of the lower settings. Obviously no knowing for sure right now but PC exclusives (Witcher 2 and Crysis not with standing) tend to run on lower machines too. Which makes sense since they have more time to optimize the game for the PC platform and all that.

Im thinking - Dual Core, 2 GB of RAM and a decent graphics card - youre good to go. But we will have to wait and see to know for sure.

And anyhow, I will be following this game. Im not going to preorder it right this second just because it promises to bring back old school shooters. Lets see how it turns out.

This game could end up being awesome or it could end up reminding us why old school shooters are old school and why we left them behind.
I have no doubt I can run them. There's a whole difference between running a game and running it smoothly.

Daaaauuu... huh?

I've just shown you two graphics cards - the single most expensive component - that cost less than $80. Now you're pulling this $2'500 figure out of the air?

A gaming PC capable of playing this game DOES NOT cost $2'500 and I find it defamatory for you to imply it does. But hardly unsurprising, every time people hear about a PC exclusive all the bitterness bubbles to the surface and they all look for a place to stick the knife in. Price is the classic one. After all it's a platform friendly to indy developers, free from onerous membership fees or overpriced games - yeah, best slander that by implying it is for a rich elite.

http://www.informatics-tech.com/build-a-cheap-400-dollar-gaming-computer-2011.html

That's a $400 gaming PC and that's an old build, there are better components for the same price or the same components cheaper.

A PS3 250GB is $400. Xbox 360 250GB is $299 but then you have to pay $60 up front for online and again every year.

Face it, the real thing standing in the way of PC gaming is not price; it is will.

On console EVERYTHING is controlled, you are denied choice and freedom and way too many people like to be so constrained and told what they are going to get, rather than deciding for themselves.

Developers like these couldn't make a game like this on console if they wanted to. Look what happened to People Can Fly when they got sucked into the console-development machine, they got totally whored out now they are a shadow of their former self.

Why am I acting like this? Because again a pro-PC story and surprise surprise the first two comments are "aww, PC exclusive. Why can't it be dumbed down for consoles? :C"

Ok, I was really excited for this game, but now I'm a little worried... one of those guns looked a lot like one from Dreamkiller, which was... well... lets just say poorly designed...

Not to mention that console games are $60 and PC games... well, with Steam sales, Direct2Drive's coupon codes, etc. I can't remember the last time I actually paid $50 for a PC game, and I don't just buy old games. Brink and Red Faction Armageddon I preordered for ~$37, RAGE for about ~$46...

You obviously haven't heard anything about it then. It has no multiplayer because Flying Wild Hog believe the campaign is much more important than simply tacking multiplayer on to it. Also it is in no way generic in this day and age because it's designed to play like FPS of the 90s with a health bar, swarms of enemies, big explorable environments and a full arsenal of weapons.

Day one purchase for those of us who remember a time when it wasn't about being brown and having knee-high walls.
