The title kind of speaks for itself here,
In most games the final boss is a challenge, but there's often a boss that makes it look pitiful,
So I ask you my fellow escapists, of all the games you have ever finished, which one had the hardest Final Boss?

I have to say LoZ: Majora's mask, in all the times I've played through that game, I've only beaten it once without the fierce Diety mask

Though probably not that hard, I was young and found it near impossible at the time: Drek from Rantchet & Clank.

At least I think Drek was the bad guy from the first one...

The giant creature at the end of borderlands was tough on playthrough 2.

Or maybe prototype or ninja gaiden.

Whole end of Ninja Gaiden 2. You fight a boss while fighting enemies at the same time, he drains you so fighting the 3 part boss RIGHT AFTER him is difficult.

Dr. Nefarious in Ratchet & Clank 3. I mean, HOLY SHIT. And as an added bonus, you gotta fight his huge robot with boomerang missiles or something using the flimsy hovership.

The Water Elemental in Crash Bandicoot the Wrath of Cortex.

Seriously it took me two weeks and two controllers (I may have gotten angry and tore one of them apart with my teeth, I am not making this up) to get past it. It left me traumatised, although it did teach me getting angry at games is pretty stupid at a young age.

Virgil, Devil May Cry 3 was pretty hard. It actually took ability to beat him unlike this next guy.

In God of War Ares was just frustratingly cheap.

Seth in SFIV in Arcade Mode. Even on the easiest setting, that teleport/throw combo is infuriating.

Not really a boss fight, but there's a single patrol in Silent Hunters IV, which allows you to infiltrate a harbor in an American submarine and attempt to sink the Yamato.

Sounds fine, until you get to the harbor and find the water level is only 50 feet, and your submarine's draft (that is height top to bottom) is 45 feet. So you have only 15 feet of water space total, 7.5 above and 7.5 below, to make a submerged run into the harbor. This means you have to wait to go in at night, without running aground anywhere, with limited oxygen for submergence. Then you have to travel into the harbor under silent running, moving at about 3 knots, because of the huge PT boat net and sonar screen of all the ships in harbor.

And then you have to get to within 1000 feet of the Yamato to make the optimum shot, and then launch multiple torpedoes to break through is reinforced hull to actually sink the thing.

Then try and sneak out avoiding all those destroyers, PT boats, and now alerted other ships in the harbor, meanwhile the Japanese Aircraft now patrolling, and try to sneak out without hitting any ships, running aground, running out of oxygen, being seen from the air and bombed, AND on top of all that, then proceed back to base in freaking Pearl Harbor, Hawaii, 2000 miles away.

Did I mention that time in game proceeds 1:1 with real life unless you're allowing the time scale option to speed up travel times?

I had about 5 bullets for the last boss of RE 5 so I had you use the knife on him pretty much the whole fight. Later on I had a buddy and loaded to the teeth so it was horribly easy.

Ramm from Gears of War goes without saying.

The last boss from Ecco the Dolphin on the Genesis gave me a lot of trouble. Mess it up and you have to replay the last two incredibly tough levels.

And in Streets of Rage at the end after Re-fighting all the bosses in the game, the last boss asks if you want to join him. if you say yes he knocks you back three levels and you get a bad ending when you re-beatify him.

Games back then really knew how to twist the knife.

For whatever reason, I found the final boss of Paper Mario: Thousand Year Door nearly impossible for me. I remember renting the game for a week, and plowing through it in about 3 days. . . But then the remaining 4 days were just hours upon hours wasted trying to beat the boss. I couldn't figure out what I was doing wrong.

I had to return the game without ever beating it. Never rented it again.

not exactly a final boss, but the balrog from LoTR: The Third Age actually gave me trouble to the point of not playing for a couple months

I never beat the boss to the Suffering: Ties That Bind. Damn you! He's the only boss to have bestest me... Besides Kingdom Hearts Sephiroth, who I only tried once

It wasn't -hard-, but the final boss of ME2 took forEVER (because I had to kill it with an smg.) Actually, most boss fights I can remember end up like that- not hard, but I screwed something up and had to kill it in a highly unconventional and time consuming way.
