I love playing games and I consider myself pretty good at playing them. But sometimes the games I love decide they want to repeatedly beat my character over the head until they make ME cry. They pull out all the stops and attempt to make damn sure I don't succeed. I remember choosing the dark side in Jedi Academy resulted in the Korriban level being a harrowing gauntlet of ruthless adversaries. Anyone with a blaster was trying to put holes in me from multiple angles, anyone with a light saber was trying to cut off parts of me I'd rather have kept. It was an experience I'll never forget.

So what was the hardest level or fight for you in a game?

Fighting Elizabeth in Persona 3 on Hard was an ordeal. The fact that not adhering to her rules causes instant death and her two attacks per turn make the fight all the more grueling.

You may laugh at this, but there were times in the boss fights in Jak2 that seriously had me almost calling it quits. Sometimes platform boss difficulty is just unnecessary :)

Specifically if it is not due to level of skill as towards annoying ass control bugs.

Morrowind has a few missions that are hard as ****. Even on normal difficulty. You can do them but if you charge right in you end up dead.

The only one that comes to mind is the third Seymour fight in FFX. There is about a 25% chance that at any given point he will just kill your party.

the water temple (legend of Zelda: Ocarina of time)
if you used the keys in the wrong oder you'd have to reload your save, and depending on your saving habits you may have to to start the whole game over.

There are 3 versions of N+, all of them are ridiculously hard though D:

The PC version has like 1k levels now, i'm sure some of them come damn near impossible.

Steel Battalion. All of it. The very concept of losing your saves if you don't bail-out in time trumps any difficulty in games that don't do that. Just one screw-up and you could be restarting the entire game.

Wish more games did that.

Plants Vs. Zombies...

May sound silly to you, but trust me...It is a serious ordeal.

It started off normally, loaded with sun flowers, pea shooters as far as the eye can see. But there was a zombie I was not expecting, those damn miners. Oh god those miners! Row by row, they ate up my plants. (Okay only 2 rows where effected...They're not many of them, BUT WHATEVER) Also there where balloon zombies... And I didn't add the cactus to shoot them down. (It turns out I wasn't well prepared.)

It was safe to say...That I got my brains eaten. And it took me a few times, a few week long breaks, to complete the level.

That one part of God of War... You have to climb a tall rotating pillar with spikes on it.

Took over two hours and around twenty tries before I finally got it.

Maybe not the hardest but certainly the most annoying in my opinion has to be the level in Star Wars; The Force Unleashed where you have to use the force to pull down the destroyer while you have other ships shooting at you, i hated that level with a passion.

not much I can remeber although when I was younger (like 7) I remember the final boss battle in spyro 2 I got so angry after losing to it 4 times in a row I broke my disk and when I realised I broke the best game I had (apart from crash bandicoot of course:D) I burst out in tears

Everyone always says the Water Temple is the hardest, but I never have any difficulty with it... Maybe I'm just lucky enough to never use the keys in the wrong order...

OT: For a game that isn't supposed to be controller smashingly hard, I would have to say Grunty from Banjo-Kazooie. That game was great, but you have to admit it was kind of easy. Then Grunty came out and just blew all of that to hell...

Most of the last mission in Mass Effect 2, but only on insanity difficulty...crazy damn hard but totally worth it. Even got no man left behind, and didnt do Jack's mission.

Banjo-Tooie's end boss was just as much of a pain, but both games gave you cheat codes pretty much free (if you could find the cheato pages). But who cheats any way

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=omBriTFb1_8

especially difficult on the challenge mode, no cheats, and no extra health gained from adventuring.
