for me its quality vs quantity and guitar hero wins in this.
Have you actually looked through RB's DLC catalogue? Because currently RB has 2118 songs available to it, more than twice what GH has, and there are very few songs that GH has that RB doesn't.

Further, don't forget that GH1, 2 and 80's are essentially part of the Rock Band series, not the Guitar Hero series. As they were made by Harmonix, not Neversoft.

In my opinion rock band is A LOT better than GH games. Well Harmonix's guitar heroes are good( well I haven't played the first but Guitar Hero 2 is one of the best games ever imo). Then came neversoft and things started to suck(well gh metallica is awesome but still). These new guitar hero band games have an issue of being guitar heroes. They seem to be full of songs songs that are awesome on guitar. And in the first games if one of the players failed then everyone failed. Rock band 1 had the saving-feature. Plus the fact that Guitar Hero chartings are so bad.
And on the matter at hand: My opinion is, that most people wited for rock band 3. At least thats what I did.

Well i didn't bother checking since the guy i quoted said that there was more than 1000 not more than 2000 so why would i bother to count.
Also i didn't count about 4 guitar hero games so that could bring it a lot closer to 2000.

Finally its called guitar hero so its a guitar hero same way cod is cod whether its treyarch or infinity ward

(And anyway my point was quality not quantity so you've made the point even better than i did)

The Rock Band games actually have effort put into them, the Guitar Hero games are just rushed with a terrible interface and playlist.

I played Warriors of Rock the other day and turned it off after 10 minutes. The only good idea I saw was having an entire Rush album as the finale, the rest of the songs were complete turd.

And, as I said, pretty much every song that's in GH is also in RB.
So, if GH has quality, RB must also have that quality, and quantity along with it.

There is an easy way to compare these games.

Guitar Hero is a music game. A lot of the songs on the games are hard for the sake of being hard and there tends to be a more singular setlist type.

Rock Band is a music game. The songs tend to be created with the flow of the song in mind and it all sits together quite well, and it's always been about distributing music to the players and being fun and enjoyable. Now they've added creating a gap between the game and going to an actual instrument.

True but then it doesn't need those extra ones. anyway if you read the original post i made you would also see that i said in my opinion

Hmmm kinda, but have you seen the new guitary thing ?! its basically a video game version of learning the guitar.
All in all, GOOD, rock band is just better. (In my opinion) ^^

Oh snap! Let the smack talk begin!

Well personally I love Rock Band. I love these music games in general, but RB has been my drug of choice ever since Harmonix gave up the GH brand. I'm sure there is a decline in general for music games, as they simply cannot maintain the insane levels of popularity from 2007/2008. However, I think he does have a point.

The general sentiment I've seen all over the 'net is that RB3 is something cool and new, and Warriors of Rock is the same old crap. I definitely believe people are more excited for RB3 than GH at this point. It may sound conceited of him to say, but my anecdotal experience suggests he is on the right track when it comes to people who are interested in these games. Couple that with the fact that interest in these games in general is lower than before, and you get GH's disappointing numbers.

Rockband expands further on their concept and limit it to a smaller release schedule than guitar hero. Activision need to realise that they've beaten the proverbial dead horse of guitar hero long enough. In other words, if you want someone to blame for screwing the entire guitar hero franchise blame Bobby Kotick. GH was good for the first 3 games, then went downhill into shittiness.
Anyway the real winner of the music game sales war between GH and RB will be the first one to successfully license Led Zepplin's "Stairway to Heaven"
You don't think having Freebird AND Bohemian Rhapsody on the same disc is good enough? MADNESS!

Actually, Zeppelin (and I believe more specifically Jimmy Page) has refused to license their songs to any game. He claimed it was because he felt, essentially, that no one should be able to do what he does with a cheap plastic controller. I wonder what he would think about Rock Band's Pro Mode.

I do think the whole "This might be why Guitar Hero failed, but only because I think I'm awesome" quote is kinda dirty, but Rock Band is the superior game in most ways. You can say what you like about the track lists, to be honest there's stuff I like and dislike on each, but really what makes Rock Band is the amazing interface - they've practically perfected it.

The ONLY problem, as mentioned before, is that you can't REALLY score 5 people. If you're playing max players, the vocals don't get scored, which is weak, but it's because of the XBox's limitations of 4 player inputs max. I actually think their choice was wise, because the other two options were: Make the PS3 version different from the XBox version, which would be both extra programming and probably hurt the fans, or: give the singer a score... but don't count it towards their profile or character, which I have a feeling many people would rebel against.

Nevertheless, I am loving it, and though I know it's sort of a bastard entrance, I can't wait to attempt to learn guitar through this.

look i wasnt knocking the track list, and yes im aware Led Zeppelin wont license their music to the video games im just saying the first one to suck up the most and get the license would be awesome. and in what universe did i say This is why guitar hero failed, because i thought i was aweomse? I didnt even say that! the reason why i think Guitar hero as a franchise sucks is because Activision keeps flogging off too many titles flooding the market with too many games, thereby spreading the genre too thin. there is nothing wrong with the gameplay, song list, or even the graphical style of both Rock band and guitar hero.

Hah, sorry, after the part about Zeppelin I wasn't referring to you anymore :p I was talking about the gist of what the Harmonix guy was saying about their game being so great that people didn't buy Guitar Hero to save money for Rock Band.
