I had BioShock's "Would you kindly" somewhat spoiled - a friend went on a rant about this scene but I didn't retain much except that sentence. So when I played the game two years after his rant and Atlas said "Would you kindly", I remembered that it was a mind-control something-or-another thing.
The scene of the big reveal still shocked me though, as I remembered nothing else.
Yeah I spoiled the ending for myself in Halo Reach. As soon as I saw the preview I knew all the fucktards were going to have an "oh-yeah?-check-out-my-epic-death" match. "Ya got sniped in the head for the team? Well ima blow up in a ship to save the whole mother fucking planet, *****. Dude, I'll take a goddamn sword ta the chest nigga cuz I was protecting the ship that has the shit that'll save humanity. Hey bitches, I'll have an epic last stand after selflessly staying behind. So fuck off..." Noble Team, Dying ridiculous deaths since 1969.
If you don't want to get spoiled, don't go onto the Internet and look at videos etc about them. You should all know how many assholes there are on Youtube and other sites, so searching around (more specifically reading the comments) is just tempting fate.
I rarely watch trailers/gameplay stuff so I don't get spoiled, it's simple as that.
Dead Space, but it didn't matter because I had given up on the ridiculous storyline halfway thru. Be nice if someone could tell me what the fuck was going on, though.
Back when Halo 2 came out in 2004, I desperately wanted to avoid any spoilers for the game. I got my copy the day after launch, but I could only play through the first level due to homework and other responsibilities. Lo and behold, a friend of mine who bought the game on launch day calls me up because he can't wait to discuss it with me. The conversation pretty much went as follows.
Friend: "OMGOMGOMG HALO 2 IS AWESOME HAVE YOU PLAYED IT YET."
Me: "Yeah, but I've only had time to play the first level. Listen, I don't want to hear any-"
Friend: "OH MAN ISN'T IT GREAT I LOVE THE STORY MAN IT BLEW ME AWAY WHEN-"
Me: "No, stop! I don't want to hear any spoilers, okay?!"
Friend: "OH OKAY IT BLEW ME AWAY WHEN
YOU GET TO PLAY AS AN ELITE ISNT THAT AWESOME?"
Me: "Dude what the hell, I JUST told you no spoilers!!!"
Friend: "But you experience that one pretty early on, so it doesn't count."
Me: "LIKE HELL IT DOESN'T!"
Fortunately he seemed to get the message, and he's been very careful not to spoil things for me since then. Halo 2 still remains my least favorite game in the series though, and I can't help but wonder how much of it is due to that unfortunate conversation (there are plenty of other reasons why I don't care for it all that much, but that's for another topic).
