If any of my favorite characters in ME2 had died i might have been upset, but no-one died on my assault, so no crying for me yet.

I think the closest I've came that i can remember was the ending of Red Dead Redemption, i honestly did not see that coming, especially since i had never cared about any of Rockstar's characters before that game...
yeah, same, on both accounts. and i think it was more the fact that after all that, it was still drawn out right there at the end. not swift and somewhat painless that you wouldve thought (especially with all those guys waiting)

Games that actually made me care enough to involve myself so much I actually tear up are few... but of the top of my head I get:

Lost Oddysey... every freaking part of the thousand years of memories... and one or two story parts that really punch your guts in.

Before that, the endings of persona 3 and 4.... oh and Gears of War 2, you know witch part (My best friend and I played both Gears Co-op, some of a tradition with co-op franchises is that we choose one of the characters and stick with it trough the whole franchise. Guess who I was playing)
before all that, the first game that made me cry out of sheer involvement and actually CARING about the plot, Final Fantasy 4.

The ending for the Fallout: A Post-Nuclear RPG made me pretty misty eyed/depressed.
He singlehandedly saved his ENTIRE vault, stopped The Master's Super Mutant army, destroyed the FEV tanks, and he gets EXILED from the vault he came from
It was such a giant kick in the balls. The ending song didnt help either (Maybe by The Ink Spots)

Yes, Heavy Rain. Twice.

Once, when
I lost Jayden in the car compactor during my first playthrough. I felt responsible for his horrible, horrible death...

And the other time, when
Ethan died after being shot by the snipers, after all of the shit he had to go through to save his son.
not to toot my own horn or anything but the only ending I got was the one where they all survive except Scott (WHO SHOULD DIE THAT DIRTY BASTARD)

Pretty simple

This latest Extra Credits episode got me thinking about the possibility of a game making someone cry. I don't remember ever crying playing a game.

This question has probably been asked a million times but I have never seen it :p
...yes.

majora's mask credits- the deku butler looks horrified at that bizarre tree in the beginning and then it hits home what is what. i'll admit i was much younger but that scene depresses me to this day.

In the last mission, characters may die depending on the choices you made throughout the game. This is referenced MANY times by your allies throughout the game "many of us might not be coming back", so its never a secret that not everyone is gonna be coming home from the suicide mission safe and sound. Its also extremely likely that mordin might not die in your game because you'll make different choices than i did.
And that's why i felt that my comment wasn't a spoiler.

So has a game ever made you cry?

OT: Not yet, but I have gotten pretty emotional from nostalgia when booting up Pokemon BW.

I agree. You see the Vault Dweller walking aimlessly into the desert. Then "Maybe" starts up. The song works so well because he is wondering if they will ever think of him again.

Never been brought to tears but I've been moved a few times. Heavy Rain, Shenmue, Mass Effect 2 and more embarrassingly, Paper Mario: TTYD...

That fucking letter for Bobbery.

I was pretty damn moved at this scene in Heavy Rain. Can't remember if I cried.

The last trial. The last question: Are you prepared to give your life to save your son? There is a deadly poison in this vial. It will kill you in exactly 60 minutes. If you drink it, you will get the last letters of the address. You will have enough time to save your son and say goodbye to him, but then you will die.

(Hugely long pause)

(Ethan drinks it. Cue tearjerker piano music.)

Heck, I'm tearing up about it now...

I made a thread a while back, but I'm not surprised a search yielded nothing because mine was titled differently.

Anyways, FFX's ending made me ALMOST tear up a little, but I didn't.
