Has a game (if any) actually offended you?

Postal 2 offends me because it tries so hard to be funny and controversial and fails miserably. Maybe if it was actually funny, it wouldn't offend me as much.

Nope, and there are some subjects dealt with in games that I would vehemently oppose in other formats,
Take the Manhunt games for example,I enjoyed them immensely, but wouldnt watch a snuff flick,
and quite literally freaked my housemates out with :)
"What are you doing sitting in the dark?"
"Playing Manhunt"
looks at onscreen carnage...
"you're a fucking schizo"
"Hence the name!".
Yeah...that guy actually moved out after that...or at least thats what I told the cops! :)

As far as I can tell, the squeal is simply more of the same. I've only played a couple of hours, and out of 4 sex scenes, all four are rape.

RapeLay offended me, just because I was going in there expecting some horrible game and all I got was a hentai game I had to do more to get to the hentai. >_>

Also, intelligence took a 50% hit until I X'd out.
Wait, it offended you because you thought it was going to be horrible and tasteless, but instead turned out to be a hentai game?

I don't think I've played a game that made me think, "Really? They actually let them make something like this?"
I built up this huge shield expecting it to be horrible, but it turned out to be so ordinary that it insulted my efforts. D:
Hold on just a second. I just noticed something. You actually played Rapelay?

Yes. The latest Final Fantasy. I can't believe how many stereotypes (including the female lead character) they had in that game!

Totally offensive!

Someone in the thread mentioned just that, too. I've been told the second one is technically a better game, but yeah, if it doesn't overcome that one gargantuan flaw, I think I'll pass. Plenty of other, potentially good eroge out there before I need to bother with that one.

I've never been offended by a game before. Nor do I think I ever will. I know games are an artistic expression of the creator's, and as such believe that they can do whatever they want with it. On the other had, people have the right to be offended. But personally, I'm not one of them.
You can accept games as artistic expression and still be offended by it.

With that said, the only game I've ever been even remotely offended by was Prototype. Don't get me wrong, I'm all for mass-murdering civilians and government goons, but don't make that a core part of gameplay and then expect me to buy into the idea that my character is some sort of vengeful hero. Alex Mercer is a psychopath, plain and simple, and dressing him up as anything but is just insulting to the player.

I found all the "controversy" around MW2's "No Russian" level offensive. The developers and the fans went on and on like it was some major step for gaming and super offensive etc etc but it wasn't, it was just bland. The message of the level was "those nasty bad guys killing civilians, killing civilians is BAD" is not controversial, it's conforming to the views of 99% of the people in existence. There are far, FAR more controversial games out there, seeing everyone(the developers in particular, pretentious jerks) act like this was something special just annoyed the crap out of me.

Ooo, just remembered another example. Metal Wolf Chaos. Let's make an AWESOME game that is a parody of various aspects of American culture, takes place in America, has English voice actors/dialogue, is about THE PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES, and then not release it in America. I don't care what the reason behind this atrocity is, it's inexcusable and offensive.(Seriously, I go months without thinking about this topic, but then I'll see something that triggers my memory and reminds me I'm still pissed about this)

I have never played a game that really offended me, but i have watched movies and felt just sick to my stomach and outraged.

If anyone has seen Last House on the Left you might know what i'm talking about during the stabbing and rape scene it was just too long and i felt like my stomach would boil over.

The most a game has ever made me do is go WTF and maybe freak me out. Condemned did a nice job of that.

Turok offended me. Because I like dinosaurs and that according to this game, murdering baby animals that are only attacking you because you are invading their territory is 'awesome'.

I dunno, it just made me feel ill. Just the fact that you can actually kill the little harmless compies for sadistic joy was pretty unnerving for me.

For all of 9 minutes. I read an article on here about it, and decided to see what all the QQing was about.
I decided not to risk getting in trouble and opted out of checking it out. Last thing I need is to explain why a game with the word rape in it is on my laptop.

Hentai games in general tend to do that, the worst by far being anything made by the people who made Bible Black and Discipline. Those games are just sick.

And I mean in a "cry naked in the shower like that scene from The Crying Game" sick.

call of duty: modern warfare 2. i cant really stand it. im fine with killing a bunch of civilians and stuff, bit it offends me that people actually like that game.
More Call Of Duty hate? Seriously?

OP: Not really, My mate was telling me about how horrible No Russian was, then I watched the leaked footage a few weeks before release. It didn't really effect me at all. Though I don't enjoy killing animals in games.
This confuses me, like when the Michael Vick scandal came out and people threw such a (to me) disproportional hissy-fit. Yes, it's bad, but how is it worse than people killing? People are... people!

OT: Indigo Prophecy. Towards the end of the game (this isn't a spoiler, it's a warning) you become a zombie with super-powers, join an underground society of cultist hobos, and then inexplicably bone the policewoman who has been trying to capture and/or kill you throughout the whole game, without ever even saying more than a paragraph to her on-screen. And remember that not only his he still a fugitive, but he's also undead. And then you have a fight with an alien in the style of DB GT (hover in front of each other intermittently charging your stupid, incongruous, arbitrary lazer hand cannon for an hour) only with QTEs.

It wouldn't be so bad if the game hadn't blatantly ignored developing compelling game-play to focus on story, and spend the first half giving the story believable context and intrigue, only to throw it all in a bin (on Mars) for the sake of the most gratuitously shoe-horned in romantic sub-plot in the history of gaming and a hopelessly dissatisfying, deus ex machina ending. Like the dev team gave up half way through and turned the project over to the lead's 12 year-old son (an idea supported by the fact that the cast spend the end-credits doing the funky chicken in the background).

That shit wasn't worth the price of the DVD I put in the console.
