Ok, I'm new to these forums so go easy on me :)
As I was waiting for my Zombie Island (Borderlands DLC) to download, I decided to play my old Gamecube, Resident Evil 2.

I'm having an awesome time!

I just past the part when you're on your way back from the S.T.A.R.S office (after meeting Claire) and you go back through the hall with boarded up windows.
I almost shat a brick when the zombies first tried to grab me through the window, I wasn't expecting it at all!

So my question is this: Have any of you ever dug out an old console or game and played it, then thought "Wow, I've missed this game..." or if it's a horror game "Holy shit! Where did horror games go wrong?"?

Was playing GoldenEye on N64 on Multiplayer the other night, hadn't done so in years. Much joy did follow.

I like you already.

As for the topic, I can honestly say yes, and that title is Eternal Darkness.
I think it was talking with Furburt a while back that had spurred me to do it, but I was simply amazed at how much depth Silicon Knights had put into that 2002 masterpiece, even in this current generation.

That's a good point, what is it with people nowadays?
Instead of slow, creeping horror (Silent Hill, Resident Evil, etc.) they want mindless action games and 'Action Horror' games (Dead Space being one, if not the ONLY exception)
I say Capcom bring back the good guys who thought up Resi in the first place, and kick the drooling monkeys who thought up the term 'Action Horror' out on their asses.
I say bring back the old Resi, the old way of horror!

And also, I'm 15, but one of the mature ones (yes, we do exist) and I still enjoy old games such as Resi, so for that series to be going down this road it really upsets me :(

I really do mourn for the loss of mind fuck psychological horrors... they just aren't what they used to be..

Yes, quite a lot.
I play my Atari, NES, SNES, and Genesis more than any of the modern consoles.

Yeah me and my friends played some SSBM a couple of days ago, and it felt so odd stepping back, especially using that old controller. I've played older games recently too, but it held significance for me because SSBM was one of my favourite games.
