Has anyone else ever wondered what the people they speak to online look like?

I see people as their avatrs. Best example is Xitel. All i can imagine is his avatar siting next to a computer with that face...constantly (until he changed it that is)

Not really, this is the only place i talk to people that I don't actually know in person I'm a member of my college Netsoc forum and I've met all of them and I don't add anyone to my MSN unless I've met them in person.

Yeah I do wonder from time to time, I guess.
But I usually see them as people with a generic paperbag over their head with a '?' written on it with permanent marker.
So does that mean some of you'd see me as Admiral Ackbar...?

I do not picture people online at all. I associate your posts with your avatar, but I don't think that's what the people at their computers look like. It's just never mattered to me.

I just do the same as most and picture avatars, specially since I can't be bothered checking the picture thread (can't remember name, it was PurpleRains).

Mainly I just associate the people with their avatars. But then again I find it weird, because people will be thinking of me as two lesbian comic characters and one of them is a demon... weird I tell you!!

I just give people generic looks, except when I'm bored and thinking up ideas for a new TV show/film (coincidentally I'm part of a film-making society), in which case I'll think of an actual look for characters. In online things, however, it's usually down to the generic look unless I know the person or they have an actual photo uploaded.

If I'm in game and hearing someone over a mike their voice has alot to do with how I picture them. When I'm on these forums and other places like it I don't really picture what anyone looks like unless they describe their age or something like what they do or what they're doing at the moment. I sort of have an idea in my head of what a person is like rather than what they look like.

xitel does have one of the best, to me he will always be a glaring smiley.
