Has anyone else ever wondered what the people they speak to online look like?

I;ve never really thought about it, i kinda just picture them as the character they're playing as
yeah i do that alot, but i always mix it with their avatar and age. Also many ppl simply post a picture of themselves. :F

I'm pretty sure that you're all either really zitty or fat. Maybe both.
I'm neither. I have a beard though.

Why do you have to imagine there's someone there? I talk to myself all the time; this is just an extension of that.

I largely assume (wrongly) that the Internet is populated by, well, me. Other slightly different variants of me.

Which is odd, as i'm not narcissitic at all, i'm just always surprised when i see a picture of someone i've become decent friends with over the wibble (met a few for Curries etc) and they are nothing like what i expect.
yeah Abysss is a great example xD i always imagined him being somewhat of a little nerd in front of the computer... doesnt seem so by the look of his picture :D

Not knowing is usually more fun. Although I did enjoy our picture thread and its gratuitous top-half male nudity while it lasted.

I picture everyone online as the gimp from Pulp Fiction.

That way nothing you can ever say, do or be suprises me.

You are all different pokemon.
MCGI is a big unblinking mechanical eye fo doom to me now, and Rawkstar is now Bill Bailey wearing Ask Ketchum's hat.

As many have already said for themselves, I too imagine people as their avatars. And I'm fine with that.
But perhaps lulz could be had over a picture thread?

Brilliant! That's the first time I've LOLed in ages...

Not only do I imagine people looking like their avatars, I imagine them AS their avatars, voices and personalities thrown in...

I usually don't really care what a person looks like if I speak to them online. As for their names its just John Doe to me. But there have been a few that I've been curious about. It was just a simple matter of asking if I could see =)

Picturing someone as their avatar might make you forget subconsciously that these are real people you are speaking to. They live, eat, breathe and feel just as you do. There are certain people on the internet who have a back bone from being behind a keyboard or a screen. They lose their sense of humanity and its sad. But hey! Doesn't mean that there aren't awesome people on here... Somewhere...

Over the rainbow...

Wow... Okay.

The Pictures Please thread answered a lot of questions, and showed me a lot more topless pictures than I would have liked.

The strange thing is, even after seeing how awesome some of us looked, after the thread died down, I didn't really take what they looked like on board and just saw them as their avatars again, with the exception of Jim_Doki, who changed his avatar to include his visage. But now, when I've seen more recent pictures of him, I still see him as the older picture in his avatar, where he has longer hair.

Oh and NewClassic, I remember what NewClassic looks like. Maybe because he just looks the part (Well... As close to looking the part someone can get without actually having a computer for a head)

The rest of you, I judge you by your avatars. Which also means ZP avatars, if not attached to a name I've grown accustomed to, will generally be ignored.

Tbh, should start another picture thread :]
That's probably not such a good idea, the original was locked for a reason.

I only really care about what people look like if i game with them a lot and speak to them on Ventrilo or something and just get friendly. Other than that i don't really care. I see people as avatars and sometimes (well, most of the time) that's better than their real faces.
