I just read excerpts for my English class and now we have to write a paper on what we think Herman Melville was trying to represent with the White Whale.
Now I'm not trying to make you guys write my paper for me, but I like bouncing ideas off of other people as it helps my writing process.
So my basic idea is that I think Moby Dick represent either God or some other divine power. In the parts I read it mentions him being omnipresent and omnipotent. Also it says details about the punishment the whale took during attack and how it seemed to be at one place and in another almost a moment later.
Just some of my thoughts, what about you guys?
