Ever read Perdido Street Station? I found it to be a very refreshing take on weird fiction. Anyone else have thoughts on this?

I've never gotten a chance to read it yet, but considering that this <a href=http://www.curufea.com/games/crobuzon/6205.jpg>unutterably awesome piece of art was apparently inspired by it, I have to give it a complete thumbs up.

China Mieville is the author, right? I've heard of it, I may try it sometime. I love City of Saints and Madmen by Jeff VanDermeer, which is supposed to be similar.

Yeah, China Mieville is the author in question. I ask because i finally after a year of nagging got my friend to read it and he said the whole book was pretentious because he keeps making words up. Isn't that the point of weird fiction?

Currently Reading it, good book.

I don't really find the world appealing (personal taste) i like the overall story very interesting and there are lots of minor to major twists to it that keep the thing interesting.

As a conclusion, i probably don't get myself to read another Mieville Book anytime soon, but i certainly enjoy Perdido Street Station.
