I want to know if playing a game has helped you in anyway, such as solving a problem you have?
Helped build up a relationship? Or does it just relax you and act as a casual getaway?

I have noticed that I have used gaming before to help build a neutral ground and build relationships.

Nope! I mean, my experience within a game has never helped or influenced a decision in real life. So, casual, for me.

Hand-eye coordination, I think.

I also think gaming has advanced my problem solving mechanics.

Basically this, and it has also made me a bit closer to my friends. Always being on Xbox Live these days.

It's solved my problem of boredom for a while but then it creeps back into my life again. Just like alcohol.

But my gaming addiction has improved my life in ways that I suppose could be a worthy trade off for my short attention span and lack of creativity, such as having common interests to share in social situations and having topics to write about when I'm bored (although that just amounts to crap reviews and not a general opinion on the gaming world as a whole, I'm too dumb for that sort of stuff)

It helps me relax and vent anger (most of the time, anyway, sometimes it makes it worse), it helps me get away from reality for a bit, and my partner likes watching me game, so I get hugs as well.

It has also helping me during emergency hospital trips, even though I got weird looks in the waiting room.

Yeah, gaming has helped. It has made me think and see the world in different ways, as well as taught me several things.(mainly in the way of presenting stories) Plus, it's a great way to just escape the world for a bit and really submerge yourself into a world and a story. It's such a great way to just unwind after dealing with days of shit.

Its never had fully influential effect on decisions or relationships. I understand the concept of finding neutral ground but I generally find that those who wish to talk about video games, talk about NOTHING ELSE...

Gaming has been good for friends and one thing my boyfriend really likes about me, is I am a hardcore gamer. I also was really close with my guy friends because I love games, and have interests guys have. When I am with my guy friends, we'd play Gears and watch action movies. When I am with my female friends, we paint our nails and watch 'girly' movies. Though once we did all play Guitar Hero 3, but only I was playing on hard/expert.

Thanks to Ridge Racer, I was as good a driver as my father by the time my foot first touched a gas petal.

Hand eye coordination mainly. I can catch things I knock off tables mid fall. Not that I should be knocking them off in the first place... Other than that, WoW was pretty helpful in supplying me with plenty of mundane metallurgy knowledge.

It lets me connect with friends, and has taught me to be a little more.... open with my opinions. It also relieves my boredom.

I am pretty sure that gaming (along with books) is the only thing that has kept me (in)sane throughout my (as of now, very short) life. The endless blah blah of school just tends to get... well... very boring and.... intolerable. Games shake it up a bit and let you blow up stuff and of course releasing all of that pent-up anger into a zombie's head is very good for helping me and other people keep their (in)sanity.
